This is not bad for a cheapo, though it has its quirks (I suspect all micros do). One thing that bugs me is that if I am using the micro, the timer function does not work. And if I am using the timer, the micro will not work. Weird and frustrating, because I do not have a stove timer. And the sound is hard to hear, even set loud. Also, the support ring under the glass plate can be unstable, so placement of food needs care. One good thing I will say is that it does heat remarkably evenly. After some experimenting with time and temps, I can even do custard in a cup without constantly checking- just as good as stirring on the stove over water! And it does what all microwaves must do: reheat a cup of coffee or a plate of leftovers. Not as good with soup. For a basic micro, fine, but remember: no timer when the micro is on, so if you are doing something that needs checking, get a timer. I'm getting used to it, but admit that I will donate this to the thrift shop and buy something else when the budget allows.
