It microwaves stuff, tells time, and beeps at mostly appropriate times. One thing to be aware of is that if you leave food in there for too long, it gets hot...sometimes really hot...like a don't-touch-the-plate-Mexican-restaurant hot. All that to say, for an inexpensive counter-top unit, it works.

Don't be fooled by the low price. This is a great oven. While being "compact," it handles virtually any sized plate and covered dish that bigger units do. It's quiet and does the job of the larger one it replaced.
