Decent microwave.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Decent microwave, just a bit overpriced though. This is how the bottom looks, it DOESNT have that circle thing , so dont be confused when you see it. It works fine though .

Excellent Value!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Perfect size and very powerful. Lots of useful and convenient functions. Doesn't make much noise either. Looks sleek and does the job. Also love that it has a energy saving button that turns off the clock/electronics so it doesn't soak up extra electricity when not in use. It's also the perfect size as it fits a standard dinner plate with some extra space left to spare. The only note for the manufacturer is that they need to update the User Guide as when it lists the parts that are included, it lists the ring but it seems like for the newer models, there is no need for the oval ring. I was going crazy looking for it until it dawned on me that it doesn't need an oval ring for the turntable. Highly recommend!

Bargain pricing for surprisingly capable microwave
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Don’t let the slightly smaller footprint of this countertop microwave fool you because this isn’t one of those gas-station mini-clunkers that takes 9 minutes to heat a burrito. In fact, I was incredibly impressed by how powerful and surprisingly feature-laden this unit turned out to be, and the price you’re going to be paying for a Best Buy house-brand kitchen appliance is downright starving-student friendly. First off, the microwave clocks in at a full 1000 watts of cooking power—that matches the 3-times-pricier over-the-range microwave we have in our kitchen. And while 1.1 cubic feet might not sound…or look…like a lot of space, its interior is still big enough (about 12.5” x 12.5” x 8.5”) for all but the tallest and heaviest 4-course dinner plates and serving platters. Fortunately, Insignia did not scrimp on the glass turntable by mounting little more than a rotating coaster in the center as I’ve seen on some other small form-factor microwaves. Here, the diameter of the glass turntable runs almost completely to the interior edges of the microwave’s cooking area, so you have a lot of room to maneuver more than one item for simultaneous heating/cooking. But what was more surprising was just how many user-friendly features showed up on the microwave’s control panel. You’ve got the essentially mandatory +30 second quick-start button (who likes to press more than one button for their food/beverage, right?) and a 0-9 number pad with one-button express settings to cook at 100% power for 1-6 minutes (again, dramatically cutting down on that pesky button-pressing). Beyond that are some additional smart features that offer more advanced cooking options for those of you who dare explore anything beyond a quick one-button cooking time with +30 second additions. For example, there are auto-menu buttons for cooking times and temperatures for six relatively popular microwaveables: popcorn, potatoes, pizza, frozen veggies, beverages, and dinner plates. However, each of those menu buttons also gives you three additional volume/weight adjustments with one, two, or three presses of the auto-menu button (i.e., 1, 2, or 3 cups of liquid; 4, 8, or 16 ounces of vegetables, etc.). Sure, maybe the settings don’t EXACTLY line up with how much coffee is in your mug or how many slices of pizza need reheating, but the added flexibility is definitely appreciated if you tend to cook/heat dramatically different sized portions. And if you forget what button press matches what measurement/volume, there is a handy portion guide behind the door for quick reference so you can comfortably throw your instruction manual away and not worry about forgetting what the various auto-menu settings meant. Additional buttons let you adjust your own cooking power levels from 100% all the way down to 0% in 10% increments—though why anyone would want to run their microwave at 0% rather than just use the timer without cooking anything at all is beyond me. Speaking of the timer, there is a dedicated button for setting a timer that can be run separately from any cooking program, as well as a separate “Time Cook” button that lets you set your own cooking duration based on the power level you select. The clock also mercifully gets its own button for settings as well–it’s all pretty intuitive. There are also two different defrost options for thawing frozen food. You can defrost by time using the aptly named “Time Defrost” button—and while the default power level for time defrosting is 30%, you can even raise or lower that power level if you wish. Or you can use the “Weight Defrost” button that gives you an automated defrosting program for anything from 4-100 ounces without needing to specify a cooking time. There are even settings to let you turn off the admittedly bright LCD clock display or silence the end-of-program beep. And to cap things off, there are three user-assignable memory slots to store a custom cooking/heating program in case you routinely microwave something requiring a combination of power levels and cooking time that isn’t part of the pre-programmed settings. With all that capability under the hood, how does this unassuming little microwave actually perform? Frankly, it did a consistently GREAT job not scorching my popcorn and producing especially tasty lunchtime leftovers, including two days straight of deliciously and evenly reheated meatball and sausage baked ziti that was easily 3-4 inches deep...all without needing to be sectioned or cut into smaller pieces for even portion temperatures! The only gotcha I would caution you about is the somewhat unconventional door open/release mechanism. Instead of a more traditional push-button release, or simply a handle to grasp for opening and closing the door at will, there is a small trigger inside the top of the door handle that has to be pulled upwards in order to release the latch and open the door. The microwave ships with an informational sticker on the door cluing the user in to this departure from the norm, but leaving it on the glass made it look enough like one of those gas station clunkers I mentioned earlier that I couldn't stomach leaving it attached to the glass. I suppose such a design is useful to keep younger kids (or accident-prone adults) from quickly reaching in and absentmindedly grabbing a hot dish--but at least for the first week or two, I was instinctively just grabbing at the door handle and ended up pulling the entire microwave towards me, at one point nearly yanking it off the top of my mini-fridge. I’ll get used to it eventually I’m sure, but it’s a different enough mechanism that I doubt I will be the only one having to remind myself not to blindly tug at the door to get it open. That one design quirk aside, Insignia packed a heck of a lot of capability into a modestly sized counter-top microwave that will only make a small dent in your pocketbook relative to other manufacturers’ offerings with similar capabilities. Time will tell if the Insignia lasts at least as long as, if not longer than, other name-brand microwaves around this price-point, but it’s certainly off to a strong start–definitely recommended.

Reliable and Cost Effective Microwave
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a good microwave for the price that just works. The size is just perfect for a family home, and it comes with a good quality glass tray. The build quality is pretty good, and I never have problems with Insignia appliances in the past so I should expect the microwave to last for years to come. Installation is easy and intuitive enough. The microwave is not heavy, so it is easy to move around and position it on the kitchen countertop. Setting up the clock is also intuitive enough. The microwave offers several presets and manual controls. In manual control, we can set cooking time and the power in 10% increments from 0-100%. The most useable preset is of course the automatic 30 seconds setting, and if you press the button repeatedly it can cook up to 99 minutes and 99 seconds as per the manual. There are other auto presets for popcorn, pizza, potato, frozen vegetable, beverage and dinner plate and using them are intuitive enough. However, for the best results, I find that it is always better to apply the setting in accordance with the recommended guideline as per the manual. For advanced operation of the microwave, you can use memorized procedures and multi-stage cooking. Say for example you want to cook a frozen pizza, the later allows you to defrost then cook your pizza, at a given time and power. It’s pretty useful and it’s good to have such features at this price level. Lastly, the microwave operates at 1600 watts and that is to be expected for a microwave this size. You may want to think about where to plug it if you use heat induction stove at the same time. The last think you need when cooking is tripping the circuit breaker because of overload.

Nice Microwave w/ Good Features
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Insignia 1.1 CU Ft. Microwave is a very nice microwave. The 1.1 cu ft size allows for nearly all applications. You can fit a plate and many different sized cooking pans. The size fits perfectly on a countertop. The microwave has all your standard 1 touch buttons for things like popcorn, vegetables, pizza and more. Comes with a 1 touch 30 second button to reheat foods or that cup of coffee. There are 9 preset 1 function buttons and numerous , 11 in all, power levels. The microwave also has a clock feature. The microwave has a removable glass turntable. The microwave really works well. We have had it for a week and we have cooked vegetables, popped popcorn, reheated foods, cooked corn on the cob and it has functioned very well. It is not loud. The unit has a push unlock button feature on the door handle to release the lock. I had never seen that before, but it works fine. The internal light bulb is bright and allows you to see your content. The front glass is quite good to see contents too. The black finish easily matches any kitchen and the finish cleans easily with a damp cloth. Small in footprint this microwave will do everything you need and will do it quite well. Comes with an owner's manual in English and Spanish. Complete with a 1 year warranty this microwave is a recommended purchase.

Gets the job done
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a pretty big microwave and decently powered. It has digital inputs and a rotating removable glass turntable. It does a nice job at avoiding hotspots when cooking. The digital display is easy to read, easy to use. It even recalculates for those times you want to enter 90 seconds, when you start, it changes it to 1:30. The only downside I have to this microwave is the door handle. The requirements to push up on the very cheap feeling handle, then open, just feels counter intuitive. Like it even makes opening the door a little more complicated than it needs to be. I like that it has a little bit of a locking mechanism to it, not something kids are just going to pop open and throw stuff into, however, it makes it feel cheap and clumsy. As for the presets, it is like many digital microwaves. You get numbers and you need to know what those numbers mean. For example, pressing the pizza button shows 4.0, 8.0, 14.0 which is for ounces but for beverages it is 1, 2, 3 cups. The label is on the inside for easy reference and for the most part meets the typical requirements to heat those items. As with all things cooking, be sure to check the final temperature of your food before consuming. So, for a decent sized budget microwave, it gets the job done without over complication.

A good microwave at a reasonable price
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Unpacking this microwave, it definitely has a bit of heft to it. It’s not compact or very large. More of a mid-size. The body is a little large for its capacity though. There is an interior light that comes on when door opens. My past microwaves only had a light that turned on while cooking. This is a nice feature to have in my sometimes-dark kitchen. It has a decent size, glass turntable. One item of note, the arms/wheels that rotate the turntable are removable but are keyed into the stem in the base. The stem is hidden in a hole making it quite difficult to align. This is an annoyance if you clean your microwave often. The LED display is very bright. Noticeably brighter than my old microwave. The buttons with words on them can be difficult to read. Especially when I don’t have the main light on in the kitchen. The text is a little small and greyish. The contrast between the lettering and the background isn’t great. Making the letters whiter would help. The buttons with numbers are fine. The numbers are larger and much easier to read. There is a handle on the door with an integrated button/trigger to open the door. All the other microwaves I’ve had have had a rectangular button just under the keypad to open the door and no handle. At first, I wasn’t sure I would like this trigger design but it’s actually a smoother motion and works great. There is a fairly loud buzzing sound while it cooks. Other microwaves I’ve owned have a fan noise so this is different and a little annoying initially. I’m sure I will get used to it. The buzzing will turn on and off while cooking. Frequency depends on the cooking level. There is a quick cook feature. Push a number from 1 thru 6 on the keypad and it will start cooking immediately using that number in minutes. i.e. – Push 4 and it will cook on high for 4 min. This is another very useful feature for heating ‘cook-in-bag’ veggies. The start button also doubles as a button that will add 30 seconds to the timer each time you press it. The first night I used this microwave, I heated a family size Stoffer’s meatloaf, some peas and some popcorn. The meatloaf and peas heated evenly. I expected the peas to be a little softer for the amount of time they were cooked but I need to get used to 1000w. I used the popcorn button to cook the popcorn. It worked great. There were very few un-popped kernels and none were burnt. When food is finished heating, there is one quick beep to let you know. It would be nice if it had 2 or 3 beeps as I am often in other rooms while cooking and can miss hearing a single beep. All in all, for the price, this is a good microwave. It cooks food well, has a few nice features and a few small annoyances that I can live with.

Nice size to power ratio
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Insignia™ - 1.1 Cu. Ft. Countertop Microwave - Black Pick this up to replace our dead microwave which was a 2.2 cu.ft. 1250 watt unit that lasted about 5 & 1/2 years. We were able to borrow a 0.7 cu.ft. 700 watt from a friend before the chance to get this Insignia came up. It’s noticeably smaller and a little less power than are previous microwave but definitely a step up from the 700 watt unit we were borrowing. We actually like the smaller size as it takes up less space. And we actually never used anything big in the old microwave so we didn’t give up any usability for the smaller foot print. At a 1000 watts it’s not a big difference from the old 1250 watt unit that we could notice from regular use. But it’s definitely better than the 700 watt loaner. With faster cook times. The controls can be a little hard to see in a dimly lit kitchen like ours but not a deal breaker. Regular timed cooking/reheating works very good. Have only used the baked potato preset and it worked good. The design is nice and simple. I like the door handle/unlock switch setup. And have to say the door opens and closes significantly quieter than any other microwave we’ve had! I always wondered why microwave doors make so much noise? LOL Overall this Insignia 1.1 cu.ft microwave works well, takes up minimal space and the quieter noise from use and opening/closing the door makes sneaking a late night snack easier ;-) I would also say if you’re looking at a smaller size and less powerful microwave do yourself a favor and move up to this model.

Good product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve been using this microwave for a few weeks now and I’m genuinely impressed with its performance. It heats food quickly and evenly, which is perfect for my busy schedule. The controls are very user-friendly and intuitive – even someone who isn’t tech-savvy can operate it without any issues. One of the features I love most is the defrost function, which works much better than I expected. It thaws food evenly without cooking the edges. The sensor cooking is another great addition – it automatically adjusts the time and power level based on the type of food, and it works like magic. The microwave is also very quiet, which I appreciate. It doesn’t make loud banging sounds when running or when the door closes. The size is ideal – big enough for large plates but still compact enough to fit on my countertop without taking up too much space. Overall, this microwave has been a great addition to my kitchen, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable and efficient appliance!

A solid performer!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Insignia countertop microwave is one of many microwave units out in the market. For those that who don’t know Insignia is the in-house brand of Best Buy. With that aside, the Insignia countertop microwave oven has a 1.1 cubic ft capacity and has a rating of 1000 watts. And since the size of the of the microwave is slightly smaller than an over the oven microwave, it can match the latter’s performance as most countertop ovens have a rating of only 700 watts. The microwave I reviewed has a black enamel coating which makes it a sleek looking unit. The door has a lock wherein you lock the door by pushing a button/trigger in the handle. This for me is quite important since often times countertop microwave ovens slide toward you when opening the door. On the right side of the is a touch screen control panel which contains the most common presets found in other microwave ovens such as timers, clock and various food modes. Operation of the unit was pretty simple. One thing I have noticed is that the microwave seems to be a bit more quiet and not really vibrating much. These are features found in more expensive models. Overall the Insignia 1.1 cubic feet countertop microwave oven seems to be on par with other brands. And I will highly recommend this model.

Functional and gets the job done
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this microwave mostly because I needed a straightforward, reliable microwave that wouldn't break the bank, which led me to this countertop model, and so far I'm pleased with it, it totally met my expectations for a simple, functional appliance. What's great is its perfect size for countertops, how easy it is to use with those handy presets, and the solid 1000W power it packs for the price, it just heats things up quickly and efficiently, which is exactly what I needed. The only tiny thing that I gotta mention is that the door handle trigger feels a bit different, but it's really not a big deal once you use it a couple of times. Overall for just a basic home kitchen it’s a solid value buy that gets the job done without fuss.

Small But Fit Anywhere Microwave Oven
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Insignia™ - 1.1 Cu. Ft. Countertop Microwave The Insignia Countertop Microwave is very easy to use. It fits very well in a small space. A small footprint on a microwave has its advantages. The microwave seems to be well made and light and portable. It is the perfect size for a small kitchen or perhaps a recreation room. I feel it is well made and lightweight. The open lever on the door handle was different than I’m used to using but I caught on fast. I set it up effortlessly, got the plate inserted and I tried several of the preset settings which were well thought out for what the microwave would be used for. They heated to a very nice consistency. The defrost worked well without cooking the edges much. Our favorite shortcut button is the popcorn setting. The casserole dishes I used sets evenly on the tray without weighing it down or stopping it. I tried a frozen dinner and it heated through well. Most of the food turned out as it should, heated evenly -outside as well as inside and was a constant temperature. I would recommend this microwave.

Unique handle design
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There are several things that needs to happen for a microwave; heat up the food, heat it up well and uniformly, ability to control temperature, able to control timer. Those are the basics and this unit meets this easily. Then some features that make life convenient, the auto defrost, popcorn setting, reheat , +30 seconds, many of these are easily included in the onscreen display. What stood out to me are two things for this unit; the extra auto settings and there’s a little sticker to remind you of all the extra settings available to you. In a pinch you can put in the auto settings by referring to the sticker as you open the microwave. Maybe it’s just all the units I’ve used in the past, but this was helpful for a quick reference and the additional programmed setting was appreciated. The last thing to talk about that I’m sure stands out in everyone’s mind is the handle. The handle requires to be held in an upward position to open the handle, it is not the traditional pull to open. I thought why would anyone do this? In the best case scenario, I thought this would be useful if there’s a young toddler at home who’s pulling on handles, this would prevent the toddler from opening and dragging a microwave. But I thought that would only be ideal if the toddler wasn’t strong enough to pull the whole thing off the counter. Since my toddler doesn’t have this problem I can’t test it, but I think in theory this is a nice baby proofing feature that isn’t available in all microwaves so nice touch ! Kudos !

Mightly and Fun Size Little Microwave
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been in the market for a small microwave for a dorm room and decided to try out this model after reading other reviews. I am so glad I went with this microwave! Its the perfect size, heats up food very well and has a great preset settings. The packaging was simple , out of the box setup was pretty much remove all the tape, place the glass rotator plate within and watch the magic work. I like the internal lighting this provides for times when I want to heat something up without having to turn on all the lights. My favorite part was the handle having a latch. This by far helps ensure the door doesn't just swing open or latch wears down from constantly pulling. The handle latch was such a nice touch that I wish other microwave companies have that feature. As far as features, it may not have the latest and greatest form larger more expensive microwaves however this one gets the job down and is in a great price range. I am also impressed with the quality of the frame, door and touchpad. I feel it will last for a long time just by the usage it has gone through so far. Very good microwave
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been using this microwave for awhile now and i really like it. It is a big improvement over the last microwave i had. That one only lasted around a year before it began to rust out. This one is easy to use, cooks well, and has features i like. It only beeps once when cooking is done, and it's several minutes before theres a reminder beep. It is a good size, easily fits on countertop, and i like the door latch feature. Hope this one lasts a long time.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I absolutely love this Insignia 1.1 Cu. Ft. Countertop Microwave! It’s the perfect size for my kitchen—compact enough to save space but still spacious enough to fit dinner plates and microwave-safe containers comfortably. The black finish looks sleek and modern, blending seamlessly with my appliances. Performance-wise, it heats food quickly and evenly, with no cold spots. The 10 power levels and defrost settings give me great control, and the 30-second quick-start button is a lifesaver for small tasks. The easy-to-clean interior and clear display make it super user-friendly. For the price, this microwave delivers outstanding value—no frills, just reliable functionality. Highly recommend for small kitchens, dorm rooms, or as a secondary microwave!
