    Broken after 1.5 years. Like some others have stated in their reviews, my microwave started turning on by itself randomly after around 1.5 years. The 'cancel' button will not stop it reliably, only uplugging the microwave will stop it. Once this behavior started, on the off-chance that the microwave works, it oftens stops or stutters, and refuses to cook. Or flickers. This is a enormous safety and fire hazard, as will turn on and is unstoppable when you're not around. The best part is that I paid about $100 for this microwave last year, and the warranty only covers for 1 year after purchase. So now I am just stuck with the microwave. So now I must play the game of: "Am I desperate enough to cook with the microwave and risk burning my apartment down tonight? Or do I just throw my $100 purchase out in the garbage?" Honestly, with as many similar reviews as mine, I'm not sure why this microwave hasn't been recalled. Only buy this microwave if you want to experience the thrill of a game of Russian Roulette in your own home, with no warning of when it might start.

    This insignia microwave worked but after a while the top inside started to peel like paint. My best buy protection paid for a different one. Sharp is a better one.

    It still works, but 3 years later the paint inside is chipping, this exposing the bare metal. Now it snaps, crackles and pops whenever you use it. Also, the metal has rusted causing metal chips to flake off and can potentially get into your food so beware.

    Unsafe Microwave.

    Nope! I bought this as a replacement to hold me over until my kitchen renovation was done...opened the box and all looked good until I used it. On first use, smoke was coming out of the microwave and inside was very hot. The cancel and 30 second buttons were not working and it had a horrible smell when in use (worse than a first time use smell). I thought it was going to create a fire so I quickly unplugged the microwave. I tried heating things up and also let it run empty a few times to make sure it wasn't a one-off. Unfortunately it happened every time. I will be returning this tomorrow and telling the store not resale this product. It seems like this one is a defect. I would give this no star if I could - on the strength that this product could have created a hazardous situation in my home.

    NEVER PURCHASE INSIGNIA BRAND

    Purchased this microwave 11/24/23 as a Christmas gift. Did not get used until January 1/15/24. Stopped heating up food on 12/27/24. But it was out of warranty because the purchase date was over a year ago. Best Buy should have extensions on warranties that are obviously holiday purchases. Insignia is a Best Buy brand and I am truly disappointed that the company doesn't stand by its products NEVER AGAIN WILL I PURCHASE THIS BRAND

    Broke after 3 years

    Was $70 when i bought it, nw its $100. It broke after 3 years of use. Now randomly turns on and microwaves nothing in random moments. Scared the crap outta me the first time it happend, thought the house was haunted. Anyway avoid this garbage, will last long enough to get out of the one year warrenty then break

    Turns on by itself?!?!

    Microwave was working fine then all of a sudden it started turning on by itself. I unplugged it waited a day and plugged it back on again but it happened again. It's been unplugged ever since. I've never experienced this in a microwave in all the decades I've owned them. This product has be recalled or something really bad will eventually happen.

    The glass carousel tray and the spindle that drives it have such a loose fit that the glass tray frequently is not turning. Higher power would be better. At least magnetron has not failed yet.

    It wont turn off

    Pretty good microwave but then one morning i walked into my kitchen to it running. Pressed the button the stop it, nothing. Opened the door, kept going. Finally unplugged it. Plugged it back up and it started again.

    Defective

    Stay away from this brand. I plugged it in within the hour of purchase. It started smoking from the vents and smelled like the insides were burning up (no fire). I was just heating up water in a mug. So off to return for a different brand. I do like Best Buy but this was a lemon for me.

    Frustrating do not buy

    Out of box did not work. Unbelievable and upsetting. Packaged well no sign of mishandling. Placed glass of water in oven. Heated for 2 minutes. Still cold. Tried all power levels, none of which worked. Customer service in middle east somewhere. Very difficult communication.
