(has only been a couple of years) The problem appears to be with the compressor Starter PTC circuit which is not available in the parts list and so far at least, has not been found on the internet for purchase. This part is a less expensive replacement for the traditional starter circuit with a relay and capacitor. Midea, apparently the manufacturer of the freezer, saves a few bucks in production by using this cheaper design. The part number is MSC31F39K3. Best buy help line was unable to help and recommended I contact a service tech which would have to replace the entire compressor, I assume. It is starting to look like I am going to have to scrap the entire unit due to the failure of a $10 part. If you buy this freezer, be sure you also buy the replacement warranty.

Perfect for 2 and would even be great for a larger family. We put it in the garage. I’m impressed how well the door seals.
