Disappointing quality control, otherwise so far very nice unit.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.For 16:9 DVDs, works wonderfully - but for 4:3 aspect ratio discs, forget it - they appear stretched horizontally even if you manually set the display format to 4:3 Letter Box. Not even Geek Squad could explain this behavior. Nor could a call to Insignia itself. Even bought anohter unit to see if the first was just defective - nope, second unit behaved same way. For newer DVDs, it's great - but for older 4:3s, forget it.

Bought this DVD player to use on train trips which involves background noise. This player is useless in that type of environment. Even at home, no background noise, can barely hear audio. Cannot recommend. For the price it should have significantly better sound quality.
