There are alot of shredders under $100 but this model has a handle, a must to lift the heavy top. not noisy at all.

This basic shredder works fine when used properly. Not a heavy duty unit, so 2-3 sheets of standard paper or less if heavier bond. As with all shredders of this type, you need to be mindful of paper clips and other obstructions. I'm happy with the value for the price.

This has to be one of the worst shedders ever. I bought it to replace a 15-year-old shredder and it's no better. The first few sheets I was impressed, then I tried a credit card. While it left "imprints" on the card preventing it was being swiped, it definitely didn't shred it. Now it is only doing two-three pages at a time max. Today, I am shredding prior year's tax returns, and the "overheat" light came on. I turned it over and see tha it's noted "2 minutes on / 30 minutes off". DO NOT BUY!

worst shredder in the history of all the shredders. This shredder is probably an embarrassment to all the shredders. gets overheated soon and then the reverse button doesn't work when paper jams. see pic to understand how bad it is at shredding credit cards

I am very satisfied since I use it at home. I use it every time I have an unwanted mail now I'm clutter free.

This isn’t a good shredder it gets hot / overheated after only 2 minutes and you have to wait for 20 minutes for it to cool down. If you only want to work 2 minutes at a time thus is the one for you!

I thought i bought a new one but when i opened it there were small piece of paper stuck on those teeth already. That means it was a used one. May be thats why it was on sale????? Very dissappointed. Going to return it this week.

Terrible shredder. I've had it about a year now and there is paper stuck in the "teeth" that I cannot get out no matter how hard I try. Throwing this away and getting a real shredder that won't clog. Very disappointed.

Worst shredder ever! It has not worked well since I have gotten it. Not happy with it. I only put one sheet of paper through at a time!

I purchased the Insignia 6-Sheet Crosscut Shredder 5 years ago for my home office. I was looking for a shredder that was affordable, reliable, and easy to use. This is a pretty horrible paper shredder. I suppose it’s ok if you only shred a few pieces of paper every once in a while but otherwise it is not worth the price and aggravation. I’ve had mine for a couple of years and I hate it every time I use it. I really need to get rid of it and get a better one. It overheats after just a handful of pieces of paper - maybe 12 and fed one at a time. Forget putting a few sheets at once - it will jam and overheat in no time. And the shredded paper, even when it goes through, gets all stuck under the shredder and you have to pull it out by hand. Looking at the photo I just took (see photo attached) of the paper jammed in the shredder, I see that it says max run time is 2 minutes. That explains why it overheats so quickly. The only reason I gave it 2 stars instead of one is that it will shred a sheet or two so it’s not totally worthless. And note that it is NOT a cross shredder.

I made a great choice with this simple, easy and quiet shredder. It's fairly compact in size, with a sturdy top that removes in a snap from the basket below (has a built-in handle). It has one simple switch on top, which slides to "On", "Off", and "Reverse". Nothing complicated. I put the unit on a chair, next to another chair that I usually sit in, plugged it into the outlet, and turned it on. A green light immediately appeared above the switch, showing that the unit was ready for use. Next to the green light is a red light, which will light should the shredder become overheated. That's not happened yet. The basket is also lightweight, with a small window towards the top, letting you see when the basket is nearly full. I don't mind that it only shreds up to 6 pages at a time, as it does so in a flash. The icing on the cake is that the unit was quite inexpensive. Perfect in every which way for me. Glad I found it.

I purchased this on sale and with a certificate for less than $25. If I had got it home and and it hadn't work it would not have been worth the gas to take it back. I had over 3 years worth of boxes and garbage bags of personal info and old credit cards to dispose of. I got this shredder home and shredded as much as I could to if it was durable. I shredded two garbage bags of papers and it was great. I don't recommend putting in more than 6 pieces of paper at a time. It took envelopes with slight thickness that hadn't been opened, staples and the credit cards I saved for last. It never ran hot but I had 2 jams (paper). Considering all the shredding I did I expected more problems. I'm glad I finally purchased it.

This shredder performs as well as others that are four times the cost. Shreds CD's and credit cards with ease. Specs don't indicate credit card shredding, but obviously performs that function well. Looked at others, but can't compare when considering price and size. Even if not in the market, buy this one before it is discontinued and reintroduced at a higher cost!

This is not the first shredder I've purchased, but it's the best deal. Years ago I bought a cheap one. It failed within a year. The second one was quite an investment and it worked well. I was prepared to Spend about$100 for a good shredder. No need. This one does the job. Ten sheets, no issues. No jamming. I tried shredding credit cards. 10, one art a time. Again no issues. Great value!

Love the compact size overall and the cross shredding it provides for security reasons. The separate section to shred credit cards is really nice. Doing too much shredding consistently will overheat the unit, so its best to do it in 15-25 minute sessions. Great Shredder for Residential use.
