Having this for more than a month. I can say this thing really works fantastic. I like it small and very handy to move around the house and look for a small space to fit it in. If you like small stuffs but still powerful and durable this is the right one for you. I like it also because I got it for a good deal and doesn't have to pay much having the same use. I would definitely recommend this shredder to anybody looking for a small shredder for a cheap price and that's tough to beat.

Compact size is great if your office space is limited! Like most small 6-page-max shredders, this one will overheat after a few minutes of continuous heavy feed - that's normal, However, if you ration the amount you're feeding into it you can manage to avoid a delay while you wait for the unit to cool down. This cross-cuts beautifully, which means no one will be reconstructing anything you feed into it! While it claims to take care of staples, I would avoid that as I've discovered with a previous Insignia shredder that small metal bits don't mix well with the workings of the more complex cutting mechanism.

It was a good buy. It shreds several pages at a time. Does not take up a lot of space. It Is a heavy duty shredder in a small unit.

I did not need a big heavy-duty shredder for my small home office. If you need to shred reams of paper, you would want something more heavy-duty then this one. However, for casual shredding of up to six sheets at a time, it is PERFECT!! I really like it! It does the job perfectly and speedily! You can feed stacks of up to six sheets, one after the other, for a limitless amount of time without it overheating. I also like that you do not have to remove staples. And, it will shred credit cards as well. A great all-around shredder for the small home office! GREAT VALUE!! Glad I bought it!

After reading several reviews, I chose this shredder. I've shredded 10 sheets of paper without a problem. Its easy to use and doesnt easily jam. The only down side, and its still not too bad, is it's a little on the noisy side. Which is why I didnt give it 5 stars. Other than that, I love it and would recommend it.

Works well, it overheated and shut off when it got too hot after a marathon of shredding papers. I had a huge stack and was going non-stop which is probably why, it hasn't done that again since now I only shred about 30 pages a day. All in all it works great for average day to day use. Price is good, and I haven't had any problems with it since buying it a couple months ago. I'd recommend it.

This is not a top of the line shredder, however for the money and for what it's capable of doing it's a pretty darn good deal. It'll cut credit cards, CD's and paper without a problem. I've shredded alot of paper recently but I'll have to wait on how durable it is. My last shredder lasted 10+ years, so we will see. So far, I'm happy with it's performance.

It suits my needs... Having tried it for about 10 minutes continuously and it didn't overheat I was most surprised! It's noisy but that was something that I expected and it's not a big thing... Easy to setup, easy to use, and easy to discard shredded paper... What more can you ask for...

This is a light duty shredder with a reasonable price point (for cross cut shredder). The shredder's modest footprint is an especially attractive feature for my smallish home office. I use this shredder maybe once or twice a week (5-10 pages a session, 3-5 pages at a time; and for the occasional of expired plastic card) and have zero complaints with respect to speed, reliability or overheating. For light duty use, I would recommend this shredder without reservation. I don't know if this model makes sense beyond this level of usage. My hunch is that if you are mindful of the overheating issues as reported by other reviewers, it might be OK for occasional "medium-ish" duty usage.

I am giving a three-star rating ONLY because I have only been using this shredder for about a month. It performs EXACTLY as is advertised, and it was cheaper than other models. I have always been skeptical of the Insignia brand, but they seem to have stepped-up their game. The Good: Performs as advertised Didn't even blink when I shredded a credit card I like the way it sits on the waste bin, and the nifty little auto-off switch if you lift it Speaking of lifting, I really like the built-in handle for lifting Areas for improvement: The labels/icons on the top of the machine are a bit confusing The unit is noisy (but for the price, I didn't expect it to be super-quiet) As I said, this is "new-to-me," so I'll post an update in a few months, but I am satisfied after a couple of months of ownership.

I bought this to replace my previous broken one (different brand). By using price-match warranty, the price's very reasonable. Happy to make the right decision for using it at my home-based business. Small size, but good capacity. Don't make loud noise, and not overheated so often. It even shreds credit card.

This shredder is one of the best I've ever owned. It is able to shred 10 pages at once with ease. It can go to 12 or 13, but you can really hear the slow pull of the motor when it does this, so don't push it past the limit. Shredding CDs is easy too. The directions state to not use a bag so I don't, but when shredding CDs, it leaves a flaky, shiny mess in the can. I guess it's the static that clings the CD foil to the edges. Emptying it would require wiping the inside of the can so understand that. It isn't as quiet as I thought it would be, but it's a shredder. My documents are shredded very fine and I'm very happy with this investment. Does a marvelous job for the price. More expensive shredders end up shredding less pages. I recommend this product.

Peace of mind, I work from home and do not want my garbage bag to break and have my paperwork flying around.... This little machine is effective efficient and easy to use and a fair price!! I look forward to shredding my mail, bills and all sensitive throw away items!!!

This is all about the safety, isn't it. Shreds all papers that have any kind of personal information, hopefully making it more difficult to steal my identity and now I don't have to put critical documents in the recycling bin when I no longer need them. This product is easy to use and was priced very reasonably. The crosscut blades are great at cutting documents into pieces that can't be reassembled, do I feel assured that my privacy is secured.

Excellent product. Works like a trooper and does a great job! Easy to empty as it's lightweight and fits nicely in a small niche for easy access. The price was great and it helps keep down the mounds of paper that needs specific shredding. Don't let the Teenage Ninja Turtles know I am hiding The Shredder at my house! Ha, ha!

Good value, especially when found on deal of the day. Fairly compact and good for occasional use. Don't overload it with too much paper. It does crosscut, so the shred is secure. No problems shredding credit cards, too.

We do not do a lot of shredding, but when we do, we want a shredder that is easy to use and does a good job of shredding. This shredder fits the bill. It was inexpensive and it looks nice. I have not tried shredding more than five pages at a time, which I understand may be a major problem with small shredders. But as I said, our needs are minimal and this one works great for us.
