Many reviews said it was loud like other shredders, but this is much quieter than my previous 7-sheet crosscut shredder. I could probably run it with the door closed and a sleeping baby in the next room. The micro-cut pieces stack tighter into the wastebasket than crosscut pieces would so more paper can be shredded without having to empty the bucket.
