The old iPod or even iPhone chargers has the other connecter that goes into the bricks. So at least with this, you can connect it & it still can charge your iPad.

Everything you could ever want in a cord. Both ends and the middle work great. Maybe it can be taught to plug itself in. Don't know. Let me know the trick if you figure it out.
