Rather than deciding whether to use it as one or the other, I purchased 2! Now I have a stand-alone freezer and a stand-alone refrigerator in my garage for extra food/drinks. Absolutely love that you can convert the unit into either a freezer or refrigerator :)

It just barely fit through the back door and down the stairs into the basement. I have not used the refrigerator function because we use it as a freezer only. There is plenty of room for our extra frozen foods. Now the freezer attached to the refrigerator isn't overstuffed. It is so convenient having extra freezer room.

Luckily I have not had that issue. I keep it set on 35 degrees. I bought this as a second freezer but end up using it as a refrigerator because it stopped working. Little did I know that the fridge that I ordered would be on backorder for two months. It is small to be a fridge for a family of 5 but we are making it work.

Amazing freezer that can convert to a refrigerator

Funny enough, I didn't realize that it could convert from a refrigerator to a freezer! So that was neat to find out. I've had zero issues with it and delivery was fantastic. Would definitely recommend buying this freezer.

I wasn't familiar with the Insignia brand, but doing some quick research it is supposedly made by Haier which makes the GE freezers. In comparing with the GE model it cosmetically is pretty much identical but for $150 or so less I'll go with the lesser known name. So far it is working fine 23 days and counting.

Delivery was 3 days after purchase. Setup service was eazy peazy. Love the in door shelves. lots of interior space and I can see everything, I don't have to dig for food, I just reach. I placed in my garage, my circuit goes out at times so I also like that the temp is displayed on door

It is spacious and bright, We are using it as a second refrigerator. There is only one crisper for fruits, veggies, cheese and meats. It would be nice to have two smaller separate ones but we make it work. All in all I recommend it.
