Just be careful when closing the door and make sure it seals before you walk away from it--carelessly slamming the door shut may result in it bouncing back open and thawing everything out if you don't pay attention...

I have only used as a freezer, but like that I could switch if/when needed. I placed a separate thermometer and it shows a consistently freezing temperature. Keeps frozen foods frozen; that's all I can ask of it. But, it is a nice looking appliance too.
