Since I absolutley love the trash can and the fact that the sensor is on the top and not in front like others (which end up popping the lid everytime someone walks by), I verified that it was still under the 1 year warranty and they are sending me a new lid free of charge.

There were other reviews mentioning the bags showing. Just wrap the bag around the top removable rim lock and insert it back into the can without the bag showing. The sensor goes off when you just walk by which is most likely going to wear the batteries down quicker than it should. So far, so good...
