Love it. I have 4 large (some of which are "nosey") dogs that I have had to use child locks on trash cans with before in the past when at work - so this was the first time I tried an automatic one (being afriad they would figure it out or knock it over, etc.) But I decided to just try it and see what happened. They were very curious at first, but they have not tried to open/knock it over and if they did it would be difficult because it sits flush on the floor (not heavy/wop-sided like cheaper cans). It is easy to take the bag out and replace with a new one, which is also important when you have a lot of dogs (lol). I am satisfied with this and thinking about getting smaller ones to put in the bathrooms with how impressed I have been.

I like this addition to my kitchen. It replaced a smaller trash can. This can is big enough that I only have to change the bag once a week. This can has a plastic retaining clip at the top of the can that conveniently holds the bag in place. I am getting used to the automatic lid. It takes two D cell batteries and the motion detector seems to work well, I have not had any inadvertent lid openings. Once you open the lid, you can push the button to hold the lid open indefinitely if you are making frequent deposits in the trash can, and once you are done, you can push the button to close the lid. For normal operation, the lid closes automatically. The only thing I don't know yet is how long the batteries last. Overall, I am very pleased with this product.

This was the perfect solution for needing a trash can in my small kitchen. It was easy to get set up, note even though guide said AA batteries, it takes two C. It fits nicely in the only available spot I have. Works smoothly, opens when it detects motion acoss the top and slowly closes. Very happy with it.

Three pep's use it. Standard bag size is great. Battery life is amazing. In our pantry, we have to walk near it. So I reduced sensitivity by adding small strips of blue tape two sides of sensor.

I've now owned this Automatic Kitchen Trash Can for over a month and not experienced any problems at all (not even the mysterious openings either). IT works for my use - Reliable, keeps the trash contained, closes the lid, and I don't get messes all over as I am doing my kitchen work (peeling, juicing, etc -- I just approach the can, wave an elbow over the sensor, and it opens) Be aware you need to take care with the Plastic Rectangle Mold that you use to set the bag securely into position (it's delicate, so don't drop it). I will also say that if you don't have batteries in your house (I Do because of hurricane zone supplies), then you'll need to purchase them to let the can work as it should. Other than that -- very easy to use, and I've not had too much messiness now in my kitchen in my canning or juicing because the can actually lifts the lid for me and no messy sticky lids, no disgusting gunk down the sides, and the steel matches my Fridge and Dishwasher. I am loving my Insignia 13 Gal. Automatic Trash Can. I love the fact that I do not have to touch the can at all. It was easy to assemble and is easy to use. It works fantastic, with no issues so far. It fits very well in my small kitchen and looks beautiful.

It is a metal trash can that uses D batteries to automatically open and close. It is a little noisy as it goes up and down. I received mine with a small dent on the left front. It was not worth the hassle to attempt to return or exchange. It is nice when you have your hands full of trash. It does not stay open long so you have to motion to keep it open. So far the cheap batteries I bought have been doing okay.

I love this Insignia™ - 13 Gal. Automatic Trash Can in Stainless Steel. It’s a great size. It looks very elegant and expensive. It’s works great. It’s easy to clean. It’s always on sale for a reasonable price. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a great trash can.

It was great while it worked. I kept it stored for about a month before moving into a house. Overall, for lasting about 6.5 months it was definitely worth the money. The sensor is pretty reliable, as long as you don't put it in a high traffic area, and I loved that it was the exact size of 13 gal trash bags. I changed the batteries about a month ago because the lid stopped lifting up all the way. That helped/worked for about a week and then it went back to barely a lift. You can hear the whir of the motor trying it's hardest but it seems to have worn itself out. I might get another one, I might also spend a little more and see how long a similar product will last.

After reviewing MANY different automatic trash cans, I finanlly decided to purchase this Insignia™ - 13 Gal. Automatic Trash Can - Stainless Steel when it was on sale back in December and I am so glad that I did! It is the perfect addition to any kitchen, especially if you or your family do a lot of cooking/baking, or if you have kids. I love this trash can because I no longer have to worry about the lid not opening when I need it to, or the lid getting filthy while cooking or baking, no more garbage spilling out onto the floor, etc. Other things that make this automatic trash can a worthwhile purchase, it is much smaller and more aesthetically pleasing than most other automatic and traditional trash cans. I definitely recommend purchasing this Insignia™ - 13 Gal. Automatic Trash Can.

I'm happy to see Insignia get into this product space and so far, they've delivered an exceptional product. Operation is simple enough, but unlike some reviewers here have mentioned, you DO NOT WAVE your hand over the sensor. You simply hover your hand over the sensor and it opens after a second. There's also a button to keep it remained open which is convenient when you want to toss multiple items in quick succession. The stainless finish and size look minimal and clean and matches the rest of Insignia's appliance products. The lid is where the electronics mechanism is at and takes two hefty D batteries. I've been using this trash can for over a month now and the first set of batteries are still working fine. The 13 gallon is spacious for a typical kitchen trash can and trash removal is as simple as removing and setting aside the lid. Overall, wonderful trash can that has a clean design and convenient automatic lid. Highly recommended.

So far it has been working fine. The sale price was definitely a good deal (I think). However I cannot give it a 5-start rating because of two things: 1) The sensor is very sensitive, so it keeps opening when it senses someone passing by. And since it is battery operated, the battery will need to be replaced often. 2) There is no internal container for the trash bag, so if you have something that will leak out of the trash bag, it will leak onto the floor. The trash can is much thinner than the Simplehuman brand I purchased from Bed Bath and Beyond. But this if of course much cheaper than Simplehuman, price wise.

very aesthetically appealing trash can that is very easy to keep clean and would look good in any room from the kitchen to bedroom. In the kitchen this will help stop cross contamination by the motion sensor that automatically opens the trash can lid. The trash cans battery’s last for a very long time and hardly need changed as well.

I ordered this trash can specifically for the auto opening touchless function and it works perfectly. I had to purchase 2 "D" size batteries to get it to work which are not included with the purchase. I would recommend this nice looking stainless trash can to everyone. The only issue I had was the can arrived with a dent in the can and couldn't get to the store to replace due to disabilities that prevent me to do so.

I absolutely love this trash can! I've always wanted to purchase one with a sensor (previously owned one that you had to step on to open) and when this popped up on my deal of the day email, I quickly jumped on it and thankful I did! Very easy battery setup, still uses the same size bags and the sensor works great! I've owned this a little over a month now so I can't speak on the battery life just yet but it operates properly & I have no issues with the sensor. I love how it just gives your kitchen a sleek look along with the additional stainless steel appliances; you won't regret this purchase!

Neat trash can. Works great!!!! Fits great into our newly remodeled kitchen. Only wish it would carry itself outside when full.

Nice height and size. It holds regular tall kitchen bags. I find it very useful when I my hands are full of garbage. I especially like the fact that it will stay in the open position by hitting a button, as that can be useful. It cleans up easily, Friends came to visit and they liked it so much, they bought one. I did buy it on sale, though. I think the original price is a little steep.

Ever since buying this trashcan, I can't imagine having any other trashcan in my kitchen. I'm so used to it automatically opening, that when I'm at a friends house I put my hands over their trash can expecting it to open up. I love it. It is nice to be hands free because sometimes you have a mess that you don't want to get everywhere. I haven't had any issues with the can getting dirty. I've just wiped the sides with a multipurpose cleaner that can be used on stainless steel. Overall, I highly recommend this bin. It's my favorite thing.
