Doesn't open fully

At first the lid would only open about 1/3 of the way and about a month later won’t open at all. I thought it was a dumb design flaw but upon investigating I learned the lid is supposed to open fully. Completely stopped working shortly after warranty expired.

Please make sure in the bearing part of the lid, there is no garbage stuck to it. If not works as well, please try to reset the lid.
The 24 hours factory reset goes as well:
Start by switching off the units.
Then remove the batteries from its compartment for a full 24 hours.
During the 24 hours while the unit is off, you can wipe down the sensor with a damp cloth or disinfection wipe.
Once the 24 hours passed you can insert good working batteries to the unit and switch it back on.
The unit should be reset and work properly.

And it eventually was hard to open at all. I cleaned out the hinges thinking it may need to be cleaned and I changed the batteries but it never worked the same again.

The cover doesn't lift anymore automatically. Not worth fixing. Going somewhere else to buy a replacement

Don't expect it to work after 1 year

It would only open 1" automatically, then stopped opening, and when we manually opened it to put a piece of garbage in, two pieces off the back broke. Called the warranty line, but because I was outside the 1 year mark, they could only offer troubleshooting via phone, which is of no help to me, since it's physically broken (we bought it at the end of Dec 2021 - and it broke a few months ago, but with having young children, I didn't get around to calling until today). Frustrating, because our Insignia Air Fryer was recalled in early 2022. Not a fan of this brand.

1. To keep the lid in the open position for a longer period, press the (power) /OPEN/CLOSE button.
2. Press the button again to close the lid and reactivate the sensor.
*If you do not press the button again and close the lid manually, the sensor will not work.
