I contacted the manufacturer about my first unit being loud and I had an experience worse than pulling teeth. Best buy finally caved and gave me a new unit.......which still makes this terrible noise. it sounds like it is moaning and happens every time the compressor kicks on. It's definitely not the humming noise a compressor makes, it's much louder and irregular Don't get this if you are putting it in a room where you watch tv, read or sleep, the noise obnoxious.

I only used it in my cubicle to store my lunch and other small items, so it wasn't used heavily. I wish I had spent a little more money and found a better-quality product. Had for a little over 1 year and quit working, was leaking water and seal was broken at the top fo the door. Called insignia to discuss but since it was 5 months over the year warranty they could do nothing but send out a technician which I am sure would cost as much as the fridge. This is a fridge I use at work by myself, so there is no real 'wear and tear'. Very disappointed.
