I had to use my DVD-ROM's SATA cable in the meantime to get the SSD up and running, and returned this item so I could purchase another one on Amazon.

Since my drive was mounted next to the case wall, it was of no use since the cable pointed at the case wall, and is technically called a Left-Angle connector. I got a proper Right-Angle connector and that worked. I had lots of grief figuring this out, however.
