I was always buying the window units. My fiancé loves to look out the windows in her office when she’s working. We don’t have a lot of windows to work with so we have this unit a shot. Works very well, nice and cold and not too loud considering the whole unit is inside the house. If you weren’t sure about buying one, I would say go for it. As long as you can spare some floor space for the unit. Has wheels so it’s easy to move and so much easier than lifting a unit onto the window sill.

Cheap but effective portable air conditioner

This has been a great little air conditioner to spot cool my room. Since covid started and working from home, I wanted my "office" cooler without having to run the central AC. Does a good job of keeping my room cool and doing so quickly. It is a tad noisy but that is the case with all portable air conditioners. I would not recommend running this while on video calls unless you are on mute. My only issue with the unit s that the remote control has been a little wonky and not consistently sending commands to the air conditioner but it's not a deal breaker.

Very Heavy Portable Unit with Trouble Cooling

The unit is extremely heavy for its size and can’t be easily be moved without assistance. It is very easy to set up, however. The downside is that it could not cool a 150 sq ft room lower than 81 degrees during our last heat wave. I took it back.

The unit operates with three fan speeds and includes a remote control for convenient adjustments. However, some users have noted that it can be noisy, especially on higher settings, and may increase electricity consumption with extended use. Overall, this air conditioner provides solid performance for its price point, delivering reliable cooling in compact spaces.

I love it. It does take a while to cool my bedroom but if I turn it on an hour before bed that’s fine. I don’t like that the water draining hose isn’t that long so I need to have a bucket there. The hose also molds easy and it’s hard to clean but the unit itself works great! It was easy to set up and it’s not too loud.

5/5 stars, my wife is like a penguin and if the temperature starts hitting past 75 she begins sweating. This has turned our bedroom into the arctic which no complaints from me and less from her. She loves and it was super easy to set up and pretty clear instructions plus has a lot of neat features that I didn't expect at this price point.

    Some issues

Mixed bag. Portable ACs in general are very inefficient...especially single hose models. I wanted to LOVE this item but there are a few draw backs for me. The unit is very loud so if that's a big issue for you then beware. I bought some ear plugs and I would rather sleep cool with a little noise. The AC does cool nicely...but it won't ever do it as well as a window unit. My other big issue is that single hose units like this one must bring in air from other parts of your house. If your house is tightly sealed and the windows are closed it creates a vacuum effect. If I have this AC running and I close my bedroom door and place my hands around the base or sides of my bedroom door I can literally feel the air pulling in from around the door cracks. May not be a problem for you...but I live in a small 1 bedroom apartment. There is a vacant 1 bedroom above me and I assume the bathroom venting fans are somehow connected to the same system. I can feel air (warm) being pulled from the bathroom vent ( on the ceiling ) into my bathroom. This vacuum effect I find is very strong and also is bringing a bad smell from the apartment above. This was something I did not anticipate so beware.

It did everything that it said it would. Our central air was down for over a month and it kept my bedroom comfortable during a heat spell. It was worth every penny. It was a bit heavy to move between floors in my house but rolls around very easily. You do have to drain water from the unit on a regular basis in the humidity.

I did a TON of research into portable air conditioners that would fit our budget and do what we needed them to. We have a second-story apartment with one wall unit in our living room (which does a passable job for the living room and kitchen), but in the summer our two bedrooms absolutely bake. For a few years we had a system with box fans everywhere that made things... bearable, but it was not great. The whole apartment was too warm except right in front of the wall unit. This year we decided to bite the bullet since my husband is working from home and his computer running all day heats up our already warm room. After a week or so of research and reading reviews, I found this model. I don't know why I didn't think of Insignia in the first place, since we already have a chest freezer and a minifridge from them that we love. We bought two of these, one for each bedroom, and we couldn't be happier. We run ours on auto all day (mostly fan but cool when necessary) and the one in the kids' room at night when they're in there. Not only are the bedrooms significantly and wonderfully cooler, it seems like our apartment overall is cooler. I haven't noticed hot days at all so far, though we'll see if that changes once we're actually in summer. We haven't tried the dehumidifier feature since we have no need for it, but we love the "follow me" function on the remote and the fact that it has a remote at all. I also love that this model was at least $100 cheaper than all the comparable models I could find, and I was not looking forward to spending $800+ on air conditioners. $600 for two was still a stretch, but it was absolutely worth it. So far we have seen no increase in our electric bill, and if anything it's slightly less than last year. The only issue we've had with both units is that they both turned themselves on once or twice the first week we had them, which was perplexing, but that hasn't happened since. It was easy to set up, and our only issues with the installation were because of our dumb windows. I absolutely recommend this model (and brand).

A LIFESAVER for a small apartment

I live in a micro apartment in WA, and when it suddenly started warming up last summer, I wasn't ready for it. Moving from AZ, I thought it would be nice and cool, but the humidity and heat wave combined to make for a... less than nice experience. I looked around for anything to cool my apartment down potentially, and ended up giving this unit a shot, and I'm glad I did. It got me through my first summer last year, and this year, it's been doing a good job keeping my room reasonably cool. I will say, it definitely became far less effective over time (now it can keep my room at around 70, whereas it used to keep my whole apartment at a cool 62), but it still gets the job done. For a tiny 150 sq ft. apartment with no fans or AC, this thing is a no brainer.
