It was pretty good for what it cost. The room we put it in was a challenge though because of vaulted ceilings. We ended up returning it but overall, the quality was very good and better than a Vissani we also bought from Home Depot.

I can't tell if it's noisy or not because I have compromised hearing, but I can tell you that it cools my 12' by 15' room well and the self-evaporating feature works. I don't have to empty any pails of water. I recommend it.

Caused $4500 worth of damage to my home

When I bought the unit I attached a hose so it could drain into a large water reservoir. I emptied the water once a week and it never even got close to being 3/4s full by doing that. Well one week I emptied it on a Friday and then the following Tuesday I walked downstairs to find water leaking through my ceiling. Turns out the reservoir overflowed and leaked from my 2nd floor through the floor to the ceiling. It wasn't anymore humid than it has been and it wasn't any warmer out than it has been. My homeowners insurance denied the claim because it's an appliance and the leak was due to a "slow drip". Needless to say I put the reservoir in a drain pan and bought water detection sensors to put in it so I never have this happen again. I bought the Geek Squad protection plan, but of course for them to "check it" I would have to lug this thing into Best Buy which is inconvenient. So I'll continue to use it with my new proactive alerts in place, but I'm never putting it on "dry" mode ever again. On top of that my only other feedback is that the remote and unit don't talk well to each other. I'll adjust the temp/mode on the remote and it will beep like it's changing the settings on the unit, but it won't actually change the settings on the unit. Same goes for when I change the settings on the unit, it doesn't update what's on the remote. It does the job in cooling down my room, but at what cost?
