Have in mind you are only paying 80 dollars for this speakers(i got them on sale, regular price 199) as we all know you get what you pay for. Second day and so far so good, very punchy bass, tweeter doesn't handle very well at the highest volume even if you lower the treble. The bass does handle well just don't crank it all he way up, it does goo all the way to 3/4. Very nice features for the price. Its not my first insignia product so I'm familiar with the brand's quality and so far very pleased with everything i own from them. it has controls for bass. comes with a little remote( great feature). I was about to return them because the treble gets bad at the highest volume but then again i guess i could lower the volume just a little bit. I was surprised to see that it has bluetooth, rca aux and a 3.5 mm in aux. I'm pretty sure than you will be very pleased with them as well, i would buy them again.

So, I am always leery of offbrand products. However, when these went on sale for $100, I had to take the chance. I was looking to upgrade my desktop gaming area. I purchased four sets of speakers. Insignia, the audio engine 2+, Edifier 1850DB, and Edifier R1280DB. Of note - for this review, I specifically chose these speakers because they all have a subwoofer out connection. After extensive comparisons I ended up keeping the audio engine 2+ for my desk. They are very small and pack a huge wallup. Unfortunately they are also two or three times the cost of all the other set ups. But they were just too good to send back, and became my main computer desk speakers. The Edifier speakers were both good, but I was just very much impressed by the insignia brand, as they sounded better than both the Edifier sets. So, I sent both Edifier sets back to Amazon, but could not bring myself to send the insignia back to Best Buy. Instead, just found a place to keep them and use them. Yes, they sounded that good, that even though I didn’t need them, I still was unwilling to take them back to the store. They are a little bit on the large side. While they sounded great, they are not good for a small desk set up area. They would do very well next to a large TV screen, or under a regular size TV screen, or in a bedroom where you are listening to music rather than watching a movie from two foot away from your computer screen. They have a decent remote, side controls, Bluetooth capability, several inputs, and actually don’t need the subwoofer connection that they possess. They have plenty of bass that the audio engines lacked. They are excellent bookshelf speakers! For a hundred bucks they are a steal. They are powered speakers, meaning they only need a source of music and a wall outlet. They handle the output without a receiver. I placed them on the Tv stand next to my 65” Tv. I have the TV hooked into the 3.5mm jack (for playing Xbox) and I have them Bluetooth connected to my Apple TV (for content). They auto switch to whichever is running. No lag on the Bluetooth. Highly recommended

I bought these to go with a Sony turntable for an Xmas gift. They were a huge hit! Although I now have battles between my hubby and kids because they we so easy to connect to! The turntable is connected via Speaker cables and any phone links up just by laying it on top of the speaker. I picked them out as well because they were a good size - not too big- and the black wood look fit our book shelf. So the set looks nice. We haven’t been disappointed by the sound quality when playing vinyls or Apple Music.

Got these as a gift for my mother who's not super tech savvy to replace an old, big set of 90's speakers. We were able to connect these to her stereo (she believes in CDs still) via Bluetooth (with a extra dongle) so she didn't have to have wires running to them. Allowed her to put these in a better location on the other side of the room. When we switch the speakers to Bluetooth mode, it just connects automatically, nothing for her to worry about. The sound better than her old speakers in spite of being about half the size (these are bigger than expected for bookshelf speakers). The only real gripe is that they cannot get as loud as the old, wired speakers, even though these are powered. Also, to note, I did get these on sale for about $70 so I'd say that's a good value--not sure I'd say that at full price. TL;DR Sound good. Excellent Bluetooth connectivity. Maybe a bit quiet.

The speakers have good sound and connectivity options. I was looking for a setup for an office that would allow me to play music from my phone through Bluetooth and play music from my CDs. I connected a spare CD player I had to the RCA jacks on the speakers. (I could also have used the 1/8" stereo jack input instead; now I still have that input free if I want to connect something else to the speakers, like an Amazon Echo or a small TV.) The sound is good for an office or bedroom, and it gets reasonably loud. Bass is not room-rattling, but has decent definition. The remote is also a nice touch and works well, although it is tiny. The only complaint I have is the audible beep when it connects to Bluetooth; I just wish there was a way to turn that off. Also, I purchased the speakers on a Deal of the Day for $60.00, which was quite sweet. I would not buy them at their list price of $199.99, as at that price point you could easily buy a full-fledged mini stereo system with AM/FM, Bluetooth, and a CD player. But if you can get them for $100 or less, they're a good deal.

The Insignia bookshelf speakers (powered and Bluetooth capable) are wonderful for the price I paid (under $100). I'm not an audiophile, but I do want the best sound for the given price range. I paid $79 for these from the local Best Buy, my only regret is I could have waited 2 weeks when they went to $59! Still, I'm very satisfied with these speakers, which are wired via RCA cables to my desktop monitor connected via HDMI to my Mac laptop for watching hi-def movies, Youtube, listening to Spotify and I-Tunes, etc. For those purposes, these speakers are a HUGE improvement in definition, soundstage, and bass. I listen to a variety of music genres, old school R&B, classic rock, 80's new wave, EDM, acid jazz and house, etc., basically everything, and the range of these speakers is impressive despite their small size. I really appreciate the independent bass, treble and volume controls on the speakers themselves so you can control those levels separately from your source EQ controls, and the clarity if these speakers is really impressive once you dial in the EQ. Removing the fabric front grille reveals a 4" woofer/midrange driver and 1" dome tweeter-- the wood grain is visible under the black matte paint, which I actually find very attractive, classy and unpretentious for this price point. The sound is really quite good even without a subwoofer, but if you want to add room-shaking bass, these have a dedicated subwoofer output to add a powered subwoofer. I don't need a subwoofer because these speakers deliver plenty of bass down to 70Hz, which is perfectly adequate to enjoy dance music, EDM, house, and hip hop, etc. in any room the size of a living room or 2-car garage (mine are in the garage). I was impressed by the sound clarity and definition coming from these consumer grade bookshelf speakers, a real improvement for my garage set-up. Inside the house, I have the much more expensive Klipsch Heritage series for my turntable and vinyl, but for my garage audio set-up, these Insignia are perfect!

Got it on sale for 70. For that price it is a great deal for the sound quality and features such as bluetooth. The speakers are easy to setup and I had no issues connecting any of my bluetooth devices to it. The sound quality was clear and loud enough to fill my garage while I worked. There was plenty of bass. It ended up not meeting my needs though as a speaker set for my turntable. It didn't give me the audio quality i realized I needed after using them for a couple weeks.

These speakers are fantastic! Perfect size. Set up was super easy. Had the wires attached in 30 seconds. Plugged in, synced to my Bluetooth, and playing Aerosmith in less than 5 minutes. The remote control is small and very-very lightweight but works perfectly. These speakers are for my sewing room. Room is 12 x 11. And the sound will blast you out of the room at full volume. Could very easily be heard throughout the whole house. I'm getting another pair for the living room.

I wanted bluetooth speakers for listening to my bedroom tv at night, and tried using Google Nest speakers, but the audio delay with them was awful. These were a bit bigger than I needed, but the audio quality through bluetooth is in sync and sounds excellent. They were very easy to set up and come with a remote. The only downside is that I wish the speaker wire that connects the two was a little bit longer.

Background- I owned a stereo store for over 25 years back in the day, so I have a pretty extensive background in audio technology. I would rate the sound quality of these good, but not great. And they do have a lot of features for the $$: wood cabinets, remote, two analog inputs plus bluetooth. If you intend to just use them by themselves, they seem like a very decent value. My issue with them is a feature that appears on the back panel but is not in their specs or description: a subwoofer output jack presumably for connection to a powered sub, and that's why I purchased them, to use with a Mirage sub I have. In order for the sub to work properly with powered speakers, the level of the sub out jack on the Insignia's should track the level of its speaker volume control, and I assumed it would, just like 100’s of other products that feature a mono sub out rca jack. But this product doesn't- the sub out is at max volume all the time. I assumed I got a defective pair, in part because when I got them home the bags the speakers were packed in were ripped and had obviously been opened by someone and returned. Not sure why BB thought it was OK to resell them as new, not Open Box, but that's another issue. I ordered a second pair from the website to try to assure I got a new pair from a different production run than the ones in the store. Looked brand new, but the second set had the same problem. I still hoped it might be a production defect, as opposed to a design defect, and might not be present on all examples so I exchanged the second set with a third one. Unfortunately, it had the exact same issue (and btw, it also had been previously opened- what’s up with that?). I looked for any other information on the Insignia website, and found a full instruction manual there (one had not been included with the speakers- just a quick start guide). It did not show anything hooked to the Sub Out jack in any of the configurations they illustrated, or mention the jack anywhere, leading me to believe that they realize that it was not designed correctly, and they are just pretending it isn’t there. The fixed output makes using them with a sub impractical -you have to adjust the sub level separately every time you adjust the speaker level via the remote. Again: if you don't plan to use a sub (or will control the sound level exclusively from your source and not use the Insignia’s own volume control) then these are a decent choice given the feature set, especially when on sale for under $150. In the end, I decided to keep them- I will use the left channel speaker output to feed a speaker level input on my Mirage. I'll only be getting one channel, but most bass in recordings is mixed to both channels to get the maximum lows a given pair of speakers can produce, so it will work, if not ideally. One other thing- my experience with both Geek Squad and Insignia in trying to get answers to this issue was uniformly poor. Three GS agents I spoke to on the phone had no knowledge about the product category, much less this specific item, and the Home Theater department manager I spoke with briefly claimed that all subwoofer outputs on home electronics are fixed level. I was surprised at this basic lack of knowledge, so I asked him if it made sense that every time I change the volume on a sub/sat system I have to walk over to the subwoofer and adjust it separately? He still didn’t back down- all subwoofer outs are fixed according to him. So apparently he intends to keep disseminating his incorrect assertion to other BB customers. Not a good sign for the training level at BB. FWIW, the Insignia 800 number (Insignia is a BB private label) hung up on me twice as soon as I identified the product and problem, again making me wonder if this is a known defect in a feature they are now trying to pretend doesn’t exist on this product, despite the presence of the labeled sub out jack. At least BB could Photoshop the product picture of the jack panel so the Sub Out jack isn’t there. That might cut down on the number of returns due to this issue. Which apparently are quite a few, given that two of the three pairs I received had been returned previously.
