Connection drops during file transfers
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm sure this works great if you receive a good one but mine seems to be dead on arrival. This cord produced file transfer errors the first time I used it. It works great for charging but I had to use my old USB 2.0 cable to access my external drive.

Durable, fast, & legit 3.28 ft Thunderbolt 4 cable
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Time will tell if the quality of the cable holds but from my short time with it, it looks and feels very high quality. It is indeed braided and it doesn't feel stiff unlike some other high speed cables out there. I'm able to flex the cable area, although the purple-colored shield is solidly stiff. It's there to serve 2 purposes- to prevent the cable damage inside while supporting the weight of the cable while it's plugged in and hanging from a port, and as a place to grip the connector with your fingers. The purple portion has a very slightly grippy feel. The 3.28 ft is the measurement of the cable without the connectors, so it starts from the bottom end of the purple shielding, to the opposite end's. So you're not being cheated of length with this cable. With the connectors, the total length is 40", or 3.33 ft. Unfortunately, I don't have any Thunderbolt 4 devices capable of achieving the max speed of 40Gbps so I wasn't able to test that. However, when I connected 2 Windows PCs with Thunderbolt 4 ports I was able to establish a Thunderbolt Network connection. Under Windows' Network adapter status for this connection, it shows the connection speed as 20 Gbps for both ends. From my understanding however, the max speed for Thunderbolt Networking is 10Gbps. While transferring data between my PC and laptop's Thunderbolt 4 ports I was able to achieve Read and Write speeds of 1.2GB/s. A 5GB video transferred in just under 5 seconds. A 33.6GB video transferred in about 33 seconds. The most demanding devices I have that's powered by USB-C are 2 laptops that charge with a 100W power adapter. So I'm unable to test the full 240W claim. However, I was able to charge the laptop from a Thunderbolt 4 port in the same time I would when using the stock 100W charger, so the cable does support USB power delivery of 100W at the very least. When used with my Thunderbolt 3 monitor (which was made for the previous generation Thunderbolt in mind), the cable was able to distribute power and picture off the one cable. On the monitor itself I could use HDR, the maximum resolution of 2k, and use 120Hz refresh rate while powered by my PC and my laptops without any issue. I'm satisfied with this cable and would totally recommend it to anyone looking for a Thunderbolt 4 cable.

Fast & Aesthetically Pleasing
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. With everything moving to UBS-C and Thunderbolt nowadays cables seem to be coming from all types of companies to which Insignia continues to come in at that perfect sweet spot of quality and price here with their iteration of a Thunderbolt 4 cable. Right out of the box you can tell the this isn`t a cheap cable as the details on the connectors and the feel of the braided cable signify an attention to detail. Additionally with the aesthetics, the matte finish on the connectors is a nice touch along with the purple highlight that makes the cable standout just enough without being an obnoxious bright red or RGB color. The length is also perfect as right around 3 feet seems to be the sweet spot for me as anything over that always seems to be too long and the excess cable seems to get in the way. With the usability though this thing is right on par with what you would expect and is exactly as advertised. I use it for a variety of purposes and have noticed increased charging speeds from basic USB-C chargers, significant increases in transfer speeds when transferring videos from an external harddrive, and my predominant use is for a 4K monitor that I run games on at 120Hz. Overall, you really can`t go wrong with this cable as everything from the aesthetics to the usability seems to be superb. The durability also appears as though it will hold up for a long time so I really think this cable delivers in every facet and I would definitely recommend it to those in the market for an affordable thunderbolt cable and especially those upgrading from a basic USB-C cable.

The next generation USB C is fast!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Time to upgrade my cables again because this Insignia thunderbolt 4 cable is FAST and one is not enough to charge all of my electronics! The braided cable itself is 3 ft thick but pliable and very heavy duty which makes me think this one will last through the pulling, bending, twisting, and packing that cables will go through during its use lifetime. I tested this on my older iPad Pro whose battery seems to be sloooowing down considerably. In a normal/standard USB C to USB C from a reputable brand, it will take literally all day for this iPad to charge. I stopped watching the iPad after 6 hours which was at 65% after that amount of time from completely dead. I ran the same test using this new insignia wire and went from dead battery to full 100% in 1 hour 55 mins. That's enough to show that this wire, comparable to previous USB C generations is significantly faster. Currently I have my one cable connected to a Wacom drawing tablet which is connected to my Macbook pro 2023 and there is a noticeable decrease in lag time between pen contact on the tablet and drawing which compares more favorably to using an Apple Pencil on the iPad Pro if youve had that experience. This wire is plenty strong to also charge my MacBook Pro if I don't have the apple magnetic charger around and it's more convenient too since it can charge all of my other electronics too. If you're like me you probably have a bunch of old slow cables around the house, this Insignia USB C needs to replace them.
