I wasn't sure what to expect after reading positive reviews as well as negative reviews. I'm glad I pulled the trigger and purchased it. The lid opens fast when my hand comes within 3 feet or so from the trash can lid. If it detected movement farther away it would probably be opening when it's not supposed to from people walking by. I plan on getting several more if it ever goes back on sale again.

My 9 year old got a kick out of the moving lid until it scared him one night when he went in the refrigerator and it startled him. Great product thanks Best Buy
