It's holding up so far but only had it a little while. I put a cheap protection plan on it just in case but since it was on sale why not. So far I like it more then the step type it replaced

They are always helpful when my hands are full of things and I would not be able to open a regular trash can. And I think it’s good for combating germs also

Another benefit: my dog no longer gets in the trash .

However, I find the sensor height to be perfect, as I don't want it opening unnecessarily as people walk by. Do be aware though that the sensor range is about 6-8 inches.
