You have to click a button to get the motion sensor to turn on. Why not just have the button open the lid? Also the lid on my trash can does not close by itself, and no there is nothing around it to prevent it from doing so. I have to push it down to close which is annoying. Construction-wise its decently built. Would I recommend it? Meh

My older one was a step on to open the lid this is so much better and for a little trash can it holds a lot. I don't like garbage sitting to long so this size is perfect.
