Solved my problem

I had a bunch of mini USB cables lying around, but they didn't work. I was trying to access the data in it, but every time I tried connecting it with these cables, my computer wouldn't recognize it, they would only charge it. I thought I'd never be able to access the data again. I was thinking maybe it could be an issue with drivers that aren't compatible with Windows 10, but I don't think that was it. So I found this product, it says it does both charging and data transfer. Picked it up at my local Best Buy and tried connecting my MP3 player to the computer with this cable, and what do you know. The computer finally recognized it and I was able to access the data again. I highly recommend this.

Worked flawlessly for my Garmin Nuvi 55LM

My computer recognized the device immediately and I was able to download current software and new map data in a reasonable amount of time with very little effort.
