Not sure if the warranty should be related to the life of the product, but I would invest in another product. I have paid less for other window air conditioners that have lasted longer. This was disappointing as I thought the price would be reflective of the quality.

Yes, they can be loud.. think of a box fan on high. But the compressor is the reason why I returned mine. It was way too loud.. you could hear it on the opposite side of the house. Just a loud buzzing/vibrating noise whenever it was cooling. I opened the bottom filter area and all the screws were tight, so I do not believe something was loose. I tried to deal with the noise, but could hear it over noise cancelling headphones that were playing music. TLDR: Compressor was loud. Not sure if defect or present on all units. Other reviews seem to have similar problem. Returned and bought an LG portable a/c. No more loud compressor.
