This product was a game changer. My ac was broken in the mids of hot weeks and it was a big help for us to survive the whole week of hotness.. this item was so easy to install, handy easy to handle coz it has a tire on it.. and the best thing was you can set it whatever hours you need to turn it off. The coolness was awesome that the whole room was very cold in a couple of minutes. I highly recommended this item not only cheap but also the performance was excellent and satisfying.. thank you

Very good for the price, had to use this when my AC went out and it kept all of my living room cool despite being bigger than the recommend 300 sq. Ft area for the product. It would be 5 stars if it had more features as far as it went in setting cycles and fan orientations but it does have rudimentary features like timers for cycles. To be fair for the price it’s excellent and will do its job in keeping you cool, especially with how easy the installation is.

Good enough for the room it was intended as it is compact and stylish. Temperature is stable And consistent to setting. Remote feature is a plus and provides convenience.. Operation however is very loud and quite irritating at night when trying to sleep. Place rubber mating at the base but still noisy for comfort. Noise needs improvement.

The price is right, easy ordering online and painless pick up process. This portable AC looks like the Toshiba unit and the controls resembles one. The unit is good enough to cool the room very quickly and the installation is rather quick and easy. It is a little loud when the compressor and fan are running but not to a point that it is annoying. Overall, it is a good unit that met my needs.

We live in east Texas. Our central AC went out a few weeks ago when we were having record-breaking heat. I bought two of these, one for the master bedroom, and one for a regular bedroom. I disliked these at first. They did okay in the smaller room, but struggled to get the master bedroom cool during the hottest part of the day. Even though it had the room at 72F in the morning, it would creep up to 86F during the hottest part of the day (it was 107F outside with very high humidity). The room is well under 300 sq ft (it's approximately 180 sq ft) so I had been hoping that it would be strong enough to cool it down more than it did, since it's rated for a much larger room. So I went to a hardware store and bought a Toshiba portable AC which was rated for a 350 sq ft room, hoping that it would be more capable (it was also higher BTU - 8000). It also cost about $100 more than this model. I was disappointed even more in that one, the Toshiba didn't outperform this model, and on top of it the Toshiba repeatedly tripped my breaker. So I switched back to this one and returned the Toshiba. (By the way, the Toshiba and this one were very similar in styles, even the remotes were almost identical. The Toshiba had a few extra features, but nothing worth paying an extra $100 for). When I returned the Toshiba, I purchased a GE window unit, hoping that a window unit might perform better than these portable ACs. It was 8000 BTU, but the box said that it should work on a 15 amp circuit (which is what we have for our master bedroom). According to the website specs for that one, it should have only consumed about 6 amps on average. We installed it, and turned it on, and within 15 minutes the room was so much cooler it was amazing. And then it tripped the breaker. So I reset the breaker and went back into the room. And it tripped it again. And again. And again. Even with nothing else on in the house, it tripped the breaker. So switched back to this Insignia and returned the window unit. So that is our AC saga. Yes, the window AC seemed to work better at cooling the room in peak heat, but it's useless if it continuously trips the breaker. Maybe a lower BTU window unit would have not tripped the breaker, but in heat of over 107F with Texas humidity, it just wasn't in me to keep trying new ACs. These work well enough, especially for the price. At the hottest part of the day, yes, the master bedroom was about 86F which wasn't great, but the other times of the day these worked just fine (when I woke up in the morning my room would be a cool 72). And most of all, these did not continuously trip our breakers (even though they use more amps than the window unit, go figure). Our central AC is fixed, thankfully, but we're keeping these in case we have another emergency.

Got this on sale and pretty much a good deal. Set-up was easy and remote control works fine. Cooling my <300ft room was also good. BUT i didn't expect it to be too loud and I have this loud "fan noise" idk from the condenser maybe but it disappears on Fan mode. Anybody also experiences this? Is this normal for this unit?

Got two of these in summer when my ac unit died. Very quick cooling, fairly quiet operation. Not the lightest of gear but moves with ease if needed to reposition. Easily chills a medium room, especially if door is closed. Remote control a little outdated but works fine.

I received my unit this morning and went ahead and hooked it up. This thing cooled my master bedroom down in less than 30 mins. The installation was pretty easy. I see people are complaining that it's loud....loud where? It's not quiet as a mouse, but it's not loud either. I am happy with my purchase so far. Lets see if I can get some years out of it!!

at first I loved it, it kept my room cool all summer, it seemed like it needed to be drained a lot tho but even with that I didn’t mind my problem is now only 4 months later it’s making this constant clicking sound all the time that drives me absolutely crazy it’s so loud and annoying I can’t stand to use it anymore, I took a video hoping to add it but u can only add photos, I actually can’t stand to have it on unless Im wearing headphones Im frustrated bc it’s a $315 ac that I could barley afford in the first place that I rarely use now unless I really have to, I’ve tried everything to fix it idek where it’s coming from sometimes it stops but then it comes right back a few min later most noticeably when the fan is on which I used to like to sleep with it on and now haven’t been able to without my loops earplugs

Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re glad to hear that the AC kept your room cool all summer, but we’re very sorry to learn about the constant clicking sound that has developed after just four months. We understand how frustrating and disruptive this can be, especially given the cost and your initial satisfaction with the product. It’s unfortunate that the noise is so loud and persistent that you can’t use the AC without headphones or earplugs. We appreciate your patience in trying to resolve the issue on your own. Please contact our customer service team so we can assist you further and find a solution to this problem. Your feedback is important to us, and we want to ensure you have a positive experience with our products. Keith | Insignia Support BBY-ExBrand_Insignia

Great, little unit for my home office. Functions as it should, easy setup, and cools a 10 x 11 room quickly. I've read some reviews about it being loud. While true, and I do have to turn it off for some conference calls, I actually find it to be great "white noise" in case I sleep in my home office, which during this heat wave, I've done regularly.

It cools my bedroom just enough so I can sleep in it. I cannot get it to really make my room freezing like a window unit can. It is large and it is loud but I knew that going into it. Noise doesn't bother me and I kind of like that but it does take up some space. Installation could not be easier.

I was so worried that setting it up in my room would be a hassle but I did it in 30 min to an hr. It’s very strong and powerful and here the room cool within ten minutes. I had to turn it of cause of how cool it got. It’s heavy, fair warning. And if you’re expecting something quiet.. expect it to be as loud as an air conditioner in the window is.

The a/c works as expected, cools off a slighty bigger room than advertised. However, it is loud and the remote is a bit finicky-such as the remote will show a different temperature than what the unit is set. I also wish either the unit or remote provide the ambient room temperature as well. Overall, it gets the job done.

Purchased this portable AC unit to help cool my apartment living room (old school hvac unit). It does the job pretty well but be warned; the unit itself is heavier than I expected (even though I read the spec sheet) you will need two people to carry it as the box is kind of awkward to deal with. Installation wasn't too bad as everything you need is included in the box such as the window treatment kit. If can find it on sale as I did it is definitely worth if in need of a cooling solution.

Our upstairs central a/c broke and I knew it would be at least a few days, maybe more, until it could be fixed. So I bought this portable a/c to make it bearable until the central a/c could be fixed. And it's been a real lifesaver! This unit was pretty easy to figure out, and it works great. I have been moving it back and forth between our master bedroom (300 square feet) at night and my office (about 200 square feet) in the daytime. I put it in the bedroom about two hours before bedtime, and it's perfectly cold and comfortable when we go to bed. In the morning I move it to my office, and it's fairly comfortable in a half hour, and completely cold and comfortable in an hour. Now I'm fighting with my home warranty company which doesn't want to pay to replace my upstairs central a/c which is what's needed, so I've already been without that central a/c for two weeks, and it will likely be at least another 2-3 weeks before it gets replaced, so this portable unit has truly been a lifesaver.

    So far it's GREAT

I live in a small, 3rd floor studio apartment with west-facing windows that get unobstructed sun all day. For this reason, window units do not last long and end up blowing hot air after a very short time. I went this route because I had no choice and heard portables are not good and should only be used as a last resort. I'm very happy with it so far. Make sure your window is properly insulated, maintain the unit, and add some metallic tape/bubble wrap to the hose and it's a solid choice. Wish I had known the window ACs would not work in my place and gotten one of these sooner. This is not much noisier than the average window unit and was easy for me to set up. I'm very happy with it so far (I have been using it 3 weeks), I will update if anything changes.

I picked up the Insignia portable air conditioner from Best Buy during a heat wave, and it made a huge difference right away. Setup was quick and easy—took about 10 minutes to get it running. It cools the room fast and keeps the temperature consistent, even on really hot days. It’s not too loud, and the remote control and digital display make it super convenient to adjust settings. I also like that it has a dehumidifier mode, which helps a lot with that sticky summer air. Best Buy had it in stock and ready for same-day pickup. For the price and performance, this AC unit is a great value. Highly recommend for anyone needing a quick and effective cooling solution!
