    Bought when our AC died

Bought this as a stop-gap solution after our central AC died. Used it for about two weeks while we waited on a new system to be installed. It puts out a decent amount of cool air (enough to keep temps bearable on the first floor of our home when combined with closed drapes and two box fans to move air around). Easy to install, but fairly loud... Definitely keeps one room cool. Couldn't figure out how to get the remote control to work.

This is my second Insignia portable a/c. It really works good. I have a cape cod home and it cool it down fairly quickly. It is a bit noisy but you get used to it. Easy to use

A good portable AC but sometimes a pain to drain

I live with a family that refuses to repair the house AC so this has been a godsend. I live in a room smaller than the 300 sq ft this unit is meant for so things are cooled very quickly. The only issue is that its heavy to carry. When I have to drain the unit, the only place I can do so is my bathtub. I always need at least another person to help me get it inside.

I live in Florida, and it is hot and humid. My central air went out, and I saw this one, and the reviews were mostly good. I already have another portable, and it works great, especially for those hot nights when you can't sleep. I plugged it in, and in no time at all, it was cold. At 76. I got cold at night, and had to cover up. Now I set it on auto at 80, and it is good. Sometimes I turn it off during the night. I love the remote. You can adjust or turn off without getting out of bed. I highly recommend Insignia products which I own many.

This thing is pretty legit. Pretty loud to be honest. But I don’t mind it, kind of drowns out the outside noise. Sucks when you’re trying to watch a movie though, but overall it’s pretty awesome. I haven’t had any complaints other than it’s loud. Keeps my room nice and cool. I would imagine if it was in like a larger living area it wouldn’t be too loud but since it’s in my room it’s louder. But keeps things nice and cool. Not mad about this purchase.

Overall a good unit for the price I paid (deal of the day was $50 off). Based on the specs it performs well if using it for no more than 300 sq ft. If you have tall ceilings it will cool less. The fan strength is average at best so it won't push cold air very far into the room. A ceiling fan or portable fan solves this easily. There are 2 issues to note. The lid that opens when you turn it on automatically raises to the highest setting. You can have it swing up and down or set it at your desired angle. My concern is the durability of the motor in the hinge. It's just one more little thing that can break. I find it more of a hassle than a helpful feature. The second issue is a common problem with many of these units. The tank that collects condensation when in AC mode is internal. To drain the tank you have to pull a plug at the base in the back. This means unhooking the hose and unplugging the unit to roll it outside. The drain is too low to put any kind of bowl underneath to catch the water. This unit does not, however, collect much water compared to another unit I have. So it's great since you don't have to empty it often, but it also is significantly less effective at dehumidifying the air in AC mode. Our other unit will pull a quart of water from the air in about 3 hours and it has a removable tank you can pour into a sink. So aside from the motorized fan door and need to roll the unit outside to empty it, the unit works well if you space is small and you can easily roll it to a drain location.

I was very skeptical about getting this, but I live in an apartment with no ac in my bedroom and the heat was just too much for me and my cat to handle, especially at night. Since buying, my room has been SO cold, to the point where I have to throw on a hoodie. I’m able to sleep wonderfully at night again, too. It does make some noise, it’s honestly no louder than a box fan but as the days go on, you barely even notice it. I love white noise so it’s been no issue for me. If you buy this and have trouble getting the room cold, make sure to turn on the swing motion. It’ll help spread the coolness.

Let’s face it we have had one of the hottest summers on record. HVAC unit is on overdrive and this unit helps keep the warmest room cold! I wish my hvac unit was this accurate. Easy to assemble and use. When the ac shuts down, I can count on this unit for comfort from the extreme humidity in Florida! I would definitely recommend this product.

We have a bedroom for a teenager who keeps their door closed all the time. This A/C picked up beautifully when the new home A/C could not. Then remote is super convenient and the vent slider worked perfectly so nothing sticks outside of the window pane. The perfect solution to cool one room. Electric bill impact was minimal.

Easy setup. Timer controls are a little counterintuitive. Works well for a small room or a bedroom. Didn't use the foam seal for the windows. Attachment for the window went together easily. Fairly quiet operation. Cooling is basically instant. Definitely need some open space between the unit and the window.

Worked well for bedroom and was easy to set up. My A/C went out in 100+ degree weather and this portable A/C really did the trick keeping one room cool until we could get the central A/C working again. My son now uses it in his upstairs bedroom to keep it cooler in the hotter months.

This A/C works great! It cools down the room so fast and is quieter than those bulky window box A/Cs. It may be loud to some people but it doesn't bother us at all. We've been keeping it in our living room since that's where we are during the hottest time of day, but we hauled it up to our bedroom during an especially hot night and the noise was no issue. Downside is that it is way to heavy to continue taking up and down the stairs. So I'm planning to purchase a 2nd one for our bedroom.

This portable ac unit gave us the cold chilly boost we needed for our bedroom with smaller than standard windows. The water collector fills up slowly so no need to constantly empty it. It comes with a remote which is a nice benefit.

It's pretty cool. Got this set up in my room during the hot summer days and it does a great job at keeping the room cool. I don't think it's that loud, I was still able to sleep at night with it on and I am pretty sensitive to sounds. Setup is pretty easy, just run the hose to your window and you're set. There may be a way to set it up so there's more insulation but it's not bad

This item was purchased for a large bedroom farthest from our central air. The unit is performing as advertised and made the difference between sleeping hot and cool. The directions were a somewhat ambiguous, but a responsive customer service call answered the questions. Biggest complaint is noise, has a significant start up sound. Sound is less if the fan is left in constant on, but if you are sensitive to constant blowing air you have to consider the pros/cons.

Excellent auxillary source of AC. We use this upstairs as many folks say that regular AC was not cool enough up there. The Insignia unit seems to work great. Very easy to install.
