If used in the the wrong place with the wrong device you will be buying new. Some devices are rated for dual currents but unless you are absolutely sure just get a converter/ adapter.

I think the salesperson misunderstood (best construction) what we needed. All we wanted was a simple adapter from EU to USA electrical. What we were sold was nothing that would help that, despite what we were told.

A typical USB power adapter is rated at 0.5 to 1.5 amps. That is okay for a smart phone, but I needed a minimum of 2 amps X 3 slots. This item does the job and doesn't get hot.
