Insignia audio sync issue

We are using the HDMI input 1. The manual says a long press of the home button will bring up an audio options menu - nope it is grayed out and there is no other access into it - that we can find. The only only suggested resolutions are to restart the tv or to power down, unplug, hold the power button for a half-minute and then power back up. Nope. If by chance the issue is fixed it is temporary and must be repeated within one week. Yes, the firmware is "current" and the TV has always been power protected. Never had this issue with any other LED TV- smart or not. Granted this is a very low price point TV but if the audio cannot be synced up the experience is annoying.
