Remote Eating Up Batteries

As soon as I put the new batteries in, the message shows up on the screen saying the batteries are extremely low. I've tried solutions I find online for the problem, but nothing works.

Bad Black Friday Deal

Theres a 3-15 second delay with each button or option that you press. And its not a wifi issue. Wifi speed is really high and every other device in the same room works fine. So in order to watch anything it takes a good 15 mins to navigate before you can actually watch anything. This has been for almost a year. We dont use the tv much so just dealt with it. But now 9 months later the sound is starting to go out.
