If you're using it to split monitors off a laptop it works well for that too. Just be sure to use the same ports each time you plug in; otherwise your OS settings won't match from your initial setup. I wanted to connect printer and mouse and other low speed peripherals to single USB on laptop. I wanted to reserve 2nd USB for critical high-speed things like thumb drives. In one case the mouse became intermittently responsive, but worked better which switched to different hub port.

They work great. If you need more USB ports than you have available, this is just what you need.
