I also have several peripherals (mics, lights, external drives, card readers, etc) which use the old-timey usb. This Insignia hub allows me to continue to use those devices. There’s not much else to say. I plug the hub to my laptop, plug my devices to the hub and they work

It lowered download and upload speed if you connect a usb through it but so does any other multi usb extender.

"The only draw back I know of is that it won't let the computer recognize my disc reader which has a USB plug in on it.

A+++ I had upgraded my Mac and needed to use a "B" with a "C" and he solved it quickly. In fact, there were two: one in the Geek Squad and one on the floor in the Apple section!!!! Yay for both! They could have been my grandsons!!!!!

Wanted to down load pictures using my usb port. I noticed the on the new laptop the size of the usb port was smaller than kn my old computer. Had to buy new accessories usb c to use with the memory stick also connecting my printer as well. Salespeople was very helpful explaining what I needed.
