I can plug the power cord in one, and this conversion/expansion port for multiple USB items of the older variety.

I've been using it for a few months. The only "problem" I had was that my USB headphones don't want to work in one of the ports and I have to plug them into another port -- I thought all the ports in this were the same. Otherwise, it's been working great.
