    I bought a "My Book" external storage unit for my desktop and apparently threw out the box with the connector cable inside. At any rate, I could not get any data to move into that drive. I bought this replacement cable with the excellent help of a clerk at Best Buy, and now everything works. Thanks again, Best Buy!
