||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.When your external HD drive is not being detected by laptops or if you are having to always pick up the device and move it toward a laptop to upload or download files - then you need this cable. Now any laptop I connect to, gets detected and because the cord is extra long, all I need to do is connect the USB plug to the laptop - even when 3 to 4 ft away! (So no more dragging the HD nearer to the laptop/s.)
