You bring up a great point about sound direction—bookshelf placement can sometimes muffle or distort audio when speakers are rear- or downward-facing. One thing to keep in mind is the sound I have a different Roku tv its cheaper about 2 inches smaller and its wayyyyy louder than this one that's the best reason this is not a 5 star tv. I have not tried Alexa yet but I will see if I can give an update on it.
