    2020 Black Friday Pick Up

Have several other 4K TVs, other brands, more expensive than this... this one is better than most and very well priced... I got this TV today cause I lost the remote on our mast bedroom TV and it was ... in my mind... easier to just buy a new TV. The wife didn’t necessarily agree but yolo. We went to get it via curb side pick up and the service was super fast like a minute wait... but than me and her struggled for like 5 minutes trying to fit it in her VW beetle.. the group next to us in the curbside pick up space said it was the funniest thing she’s ever seen after we finally managed to fit it in. Mind you I rolled out of bed. Couldn’t find the remote googled 4K TV deals and left the house in a sweet green t shirt , red and blue shorts And blue crocks. Well with the price and all that solid 7 out of 7.

Ive always been skeptical of buying a brand i'd never heard of. I bought a Samsung 40 inch at 1st, but it looked small and i didnt like the connection set up in the back and the design of its backside is not exactly mount friendly. So i did a little research, compared some pricing and read the reviews. I decide to give it a go. Saw it on the floor display and was impressed with its size and picture clarity. A really good buy for its price point. Lightweight and was easy to mount and all of the ports are on the back and some on the side for flexibility in additional hookups. The sound is not bad although it may vary depending on what your watching and what channel. Overall I'd say its a really good bargain.

Insignia is the exception, in a good way.

I've done countless reviews. My advice is always the same: avoid store brands like the plague. However there's exceptions to every rule, and in this case, it's Insignia. Some people have to be wondering why, right? Well the answer can be had by a simple & short chat with anyone who works in the TV section at any Best Buy store. Insignia outsources all of their major electronics to other popular companies and so ultimately because other great companies make Insignia products, Insignia themselves turn out great. In the past, rather the early days when LCD ruled and LED wasn't around yet, it was mainly companies like Samsung and LG making their motherboards, lighting and other key components. Now I believe it's shifted to Hisense and TCL. In either instance you're definitely NOT getting a subpar quality TV. I would however advise one not to get too big of an Insignia TV as a few lemons pop up here and there and are a bit more common than with other brands. But ultimately if it outlives the one year manufacturer warranty you can safely bet you've gotten a good one. More than likely you'll know in a few months, but definitely hold that receipt as few TV's in general have issues right away. The biggest plus to me is that they've established themselves as a reputable TV maker yet at the same time that has hardly driven up the cost of the price. Meaning a well above average (not amazing, but definitely worthwhile) TV can be had for an extremely reasonable price.

Great computer monitor - pay attention to settings

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought this through Amazon and really did not have high hopes because of the cheap price. My initial use was as a computer monitor and the initial results were so bad that it sat in my bedroom as a spare tv for over a year. Today after some reading some encouraging reviews of using this as computer monitor, I decided to give it another try, and here are my settings that worked well. 1. Make sure the refresh rate is set to 60 Hz. The default setting can be 30 Hz and that caused a tremendous lag which was the immediate turn on when I first tried it. 2. In the picture mode, the "movie" mode seems to be the most friendly for extended period of viewing for a short distance (I'm sitting less than 3 feet away from the TV). 3. Whenever the TV is powered on, the fire TV default interface is what you get. Use the "recent" button on the remote and select the appropriate input is the fastest way I have found to get back to using it as a monitor. After tweaking the picture setting a little bit, this is now a very pleasant monitor :) The only complaint, which has nothing to do with the TV, is now my webcam sit super high which is somewhat intimidating when looking at myself during zoom calls...

This TV did not disappoint. It was perfect for my bedroom and after adjusting the Picture & Audio Settings it was perfect for my needs. I like that it has FireTV installed as the operating system, it eliminates the need to need another device attached. FYI: If you need Developer Options enabled, click on your Devices Name about 5-8 times to unlock those features/setting for Amazon FireTV.

Truly excellent. I purchased this unit at $199 during the 2020 Black Friday sale. At this price point you’d be hard pressed to find a better value. My comparisons here are primarily against the TCL 4 series 4K unit, which I exchanged for this one, and focus on details that I found lacking in other reviews for this model. Motion Processing - this tv handles motion very well, and far better than the TCL 4 series unit I returned. Blur is limited and generally only present when you’re looking for it with very critical eyes during very quick panning. I am normally extremely sensitive to this, which is why I’ve owned plasma televisions in the past. While it’s not perfect, this tv can handle the majority of action sequences effectively. Upscaling - I was very impressed with this TV’s upscaling ability. The TCL 4 series I returned struggled in this department. 1080p content is very crisp when upscale to 4K, no blurring or annoying artifacts present in some other budget options. Build quality - while not premium in feel or appearance, it’s not ugly either, and is well built, especially considering the price. Don’t expect high quality materials, but the plastic is solid, without any flimsy feeling. I trust this TV will last for a good while - important for me as I like to hold onto units for a long time (this tv replaced a 9 year old plasma). Navigation - navigation through the TVs menus is generally smooth with only the very rare stutter. Streaming - the WiFi on this model works effectively, taking full advantage of my home internet. 4K videos on YouTube, Netflix, Disney+ and other streaming apps load quickly and sharply. No more or less buffering required than on my computer, no dropped frames, etc. A smooth and enjoyable experience. Overall picture - contrast and colors are great, and easily adjustable between a natural and over saturated cartoon feel. As mentioned before, action shots are very smooth. This model comes with plenty of presets but also gives you a lot of control over the image to tune it to your preferences. The one downside is that I can’t directly manipulate the blacks (apart from gamma settings). Sound - the one area where this unit falls short. Sound is loud, but lacks body, and feels very tinny and downright cheap compared to the rest of the unit. If you value immersion at all you will want to pair this with a sound bar of some sort. Overall this is an excellent unit. I’m using this as a primary tv in a 12x15’ living room space and it more than does the job. Compared to the larger 50” TCL 4 series I returned, I’m digging this big time.

It’s quite simply the best bang for the buck scenario here. There’s definitely better TV’s out there, but also at a considerably higher cost. I will say that I’ve done some research and homework on Insignia over the past few years. A fair number of people already know this, but they outsource their major components (so many of them that it’s really the whole of their TV’s) which sounds sketchy, until you hear that it’s typically through major brands that everyone knows and trusts including Samsung & LG. The thing is, unless you take apart your Insignia TV and really examine the circuits you’ll never know exactly who they licensed for any given model. Also I think it’s fairly safe to assume that even if it is from LG or Samsung odds are their not going to be giving them their best components, more like stuff from their bottom tier lineups. The point is that while they outsource their brand to be made by more reputable brands they are A, wildly inconsistent with who and B, your still likely to get subpar quality as those companies probably aren’t giving them their best. So why mention this? Because walk into any Best Buy and ask for advice and/or opinions, especially on their Insignia brand, and they’ll make them sound like a stronger contender than they really are with the fact that they are often made by other more reputable companies as the basis for this. Really with Insignia you probably have about a 65% chance, with their current models, of walking away happy. I should note that I always take in a lot of other reviews before making my own and then add in my own stance, cause I don’t want to disregard what seems like the popular topics and issues. That said one common complaint is that their not as user friendly as other brands. More specifically with pretty much anything tied to internet usage and users. Want your Apple TV to play well with this? It might, but it might not. Same for Roku and other popular streaming devices. Instead if your intent on getting an Insignia TV content yourself with the Firestick, as they are the current default smart app that’s built-in to pretty much all of their current smart TV’s. If you’re full on into another streaming app then, well, good luck with getting it to play well with any Insignia smart TV. Their life expectancy is usually very hit or miss, but also you’ll probably know the answer to that in a little over a year. Odds are among those I personally know who have or have had them if they last beyond the first year, then they’ll pretty much be one of those TV’s that just lasts and lasts for as long as you want it to. At the other end of the same spectrum if it’s going to goof up on you and/or die not only will it likely do so within about a year, but there’ll also usually be telltale signs of that fairly early on, so trust your gut if you see something way off happening with yours. I’ll end by saying that I recommend them up to a 50 inch screen size, beyond that I’d suggest looking for a Samsung or LG or possibly a Sony, maybe a Vizio as the price of an Insignia after that size, while still competitive, also gets high enough to be more of an investment rather than just a cheap momentary TV and so one should look for something definitely solid as opposed to something hit or miss. Still, these definitely make for great bedroom & kids room TV’s and around birthdays and holidays are great gifts. An easy recommendation, for the most part.

I love the quality and price of this TV but for some reason, I get random bars of static and pixels when watching some content. It happens for a quick frame, and while it doesn't completely ruin the ability to watch content on the television, it is frustrating and annoying to have it keep happening. It would have a full rating if not for this problem. I will be exchanging to see if the TV itself is faulty. Otherwise, the quality is AMAZING and the ease of use is great.
