Customers are saying

Customers admire the 43” Class LED 4K UHD Smart Fire TV Edition TV for its exceptional picture quality, affordable price, and simple setup process. The Fire TV integration is also well-received. However, some users have concerns about the durability of the TV, with reports of short lifespans and screen issues. Additionally, the remote control could be improved for better user-friendliness, and the viewing angle is slightly limited.

I wouldn't buy an Insignia TV again

    Posted .

I wouldn't buy an Insignia TV again for the following reasons: (It's a year and a half old.) First of all, this is a Fire TV. This means it is owned by Amazon. There are certain apps that require you to have Amazon Prime. One of these is BritBox. I already have a BritBox subscription which I watch with a Roku stick. The Fire TV wants me to, not only sign up of Amazon Prime, but also sign up again for BritBox. I would imagine there are other such limitations with other apps. Second, I have had issues with the TV hanging. To get it running again, I have had to pull the plug to reboot it. This happens almost weekly. Third, when my local internet is slow, this TV will buffer for a while and then hang. I can back out of the current channel and get back in, but it's a hassle when it happens frequently on a bad internet day. On the other hand, I can switch over to the Roku stick, which may slow down or hang for a minute, but it always comes back without any intervention by me. Fourth, the remote is not the best. Half the time it gets "stuck". It will either not do what I ask or it will click twice when I've only clicked once. In some cases, it's just kept going as though I've been holding down the button (channel selection or volume). I will be switching to another brand of TV since the Geek Squad has informed me that it would be cheaper to get a new TV than to fix this one. Of course, I'll have to pay, also, to get rid of it, as well.

    Great bedroom TV

Got this tv for the bedroom because it was on sale and I had read good reviews on it. We currently have a firestick out on the big tv and I wanted to keep the interface the same for the TV in the bedroom. The firetv works great on this and the picture is really clear, I messed with the settings because I didnt like how low the back lighting was but thats a personal preference thing. I would really recommend this if your are looking for a solid tv that isnt to fancy for the bedroom. sound is really nice on it as well.

Here is how to fix the audio/picture sync issue

    Posted .

I ordered this tv on the Best Buy website the Monday before thanksgiving and I received it at my house on Black Friday. I ordered the 43 inch model. My previous tv was a TCL Roku tv from 2015 but over time that tv had caused a lot of issues and needed replaced. I needed a tv that could be WiFi and wired with an Ethernet cable. My previous tv could not be wired. So far I have found all my favorite apps that I had with my Roku tv. After my new tv updated and I downloaded my large number of apps..., I found that the sounded and audio was not synced correctly. It was very off. I googled the issue and I founded that it was very common with fire edition TVs. I tried a fix that I found online. Very simple... you just press the play/pause button and the select button at the same time on the remote for 5 seconds. The tv will restart and the sync issues ended for me. I watched a show on the cw app and then hulu. Both had been out of sync before I did the fix. I have tried the Bluetooth function yet. I’m hoping that a pair of Bluetooth headphones that arrives on Tuesday can work with ice. My previous tv had no Bluetooth. Sure I could have saved 30 dollars had I waited until Black Friday but it wouldn’t have arrived at a time that I could have had a day off to mount it to my tv stand with my brothers help. I also have an echo dot that came as a free gift if you ordered when I did with Best Buy. It works with the tv and the Alexa app.

I was looking to buy a tv for my room. I looked at used tvs online and they were around 150$ for a 40inch Full hd or 100$ for a smaller one etc. Thankfully, before buying one I searched for new TVs online and here I see a: $200 4K 42.5 inch Smart Alexa-Enabled TV! 4K!!! 40+ inch!! At this price? WOW! The next day I went and bought it, it was $279 at the location but they matched the price here. Now that I've had it for a while I'd say it was a really GREAT purchase! :)

Great if you only want a tv to last 3 years

The picture was good and it was easy to set up - but 3 years later it died and did not recognize the remote! there are no controls on television, so without a remote it is just garbage. I didn't purchase the warranty and best buy will not replace it. So now, its waste and headed for the landfill and I have to buy a new TV. It should have lasted longer!! My local best buy would not even entertain a partial credit towards a new TV. Terrible service!

I've had this TV for a week now and I love it. The picture and sound quality are excellent! However, the biggest part for me was would the Fire TV aspect act the same and have the same abilities, apps, access to 3rd part apps, etc., at my Fire TV devices and it does!! Processing speed-wise loading apps, and functionality appears to run much faster than my Fire TV 4K Box. Highly recommend!

Great value, pairs with Bluetooth Headphones

I like this thing so far, I can't get it to turn on using my Echo dot even though I have it enabled in the TV's settings, but otherwise I'm super happy. The image is very nice; not as nice as my Samsung but it was like a third of the price, and it's good enough to where I'm never going to be watching something and thinking "too bad this picture isn't better." I don't like those 120 or 240Hz TVs because they make everything look like a soap opera so I'm OK with 60Hz. 3 HDMI inputs is plenty given that I don't have to connect streaming boxes like Fire TV. I also discovered that it will pair with and use Bluetooth headphones, so I don't have to bother my housemates. I've always wondered why more TVs don't do this. Turning on closed captioning is a little tedious at first because some of the apps need it turned on separately. The remote is nice, the voice control works well, searching multiple providers (Amazon, Netflix etc.) for whatever I'm looking for. And it's kind of cool and convenient controlling my lighting with my voice on the TV remote. If you're watching Amazon videos, clicking up on the remote shows all kinds of interesting stuff and lets you jump to scenes like a DVD. I'd like to reassign the PlayStation Vue button to something I will be using like the Plex app, but I know that's probably a cross-promotion thing and will never happen for business reasons.

I purchased this TV for my man-cave upgrade. I have NOT been disappointed! It is a great product and I purchased it for under $200! I would just advise you to buy new and avoid open box, even "certified." The one I purchased had no remote, stand, cord, etc. However, Best Buy came through as the always do and made it right!

It was a great TV, the bulbs went out so I could hear, but not see the screen. When i put a flashlight up to it, I could see the picture. Definitely get a warranty for this one. But its worth the buy.

Like the tv, don't like PSVUE on fire products

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I have plenty of insignia tv's and they give a great product for the price so I had no hesitation on purchasing this one. When I got it installed I watched some football using PSVUE and noticed the scroll "jerking" and the player movements were not smooth. I googled this and found that PSVUE runs at 30fps on fire products and 60fps on Roku products. I brought the Roku from the bedroom, plugged it in and everything was smooth. I returned this tv and got the TCL that has Roku and football on PSVUE is smooth again. I have a mixture of Roku and Fire products throughout the house so I was surprised to hear about this.

    Decent Secondary TV at $200

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I use this as the TV in my secondary residence, where I'm only at 1-2 days a week in a smallish room. For this purpose it's sufficient. If you've never had a better quality TV then this will look good the first time you use it, However, if you've had a better one (got the TCL R617 at my primary reaidence) then you will definitely notice the difference and it's a big one. If the source quality of the movie/show is really good, not only ultra 4K but the cinematography, then the image can look decent to good. However, if either is lacking then the image can look just fair to mediocre, desaturated and shadowy, I don't watch in sun-filled rooms but this looks better in a mostly dark room with some sunlight than in an all dark room. Sound isn't anything to write home about but is not bad and better than some costlier TVs but has the mute indicator flashing in the TV and you can't turn it off (why some TVs have this is beyond me). Fire TV remote is good and fire has a good selection of apps. Got this at $229 during a sale then got an additional $30 rebate when they had a 2 day sale in Jan. Any more and I'd regret the purchase. As it is I still regret not buying at Walmart with their 90 day return as even using this 1-2 days a week I'll probably upgrade within the year to upgrade the picture, But adequate budget TV for a secondary residence or as long as you know it's picture limitations.

    Good, but ..... Failed!!!

Here we go! I was on shopping of a new TV and i was trying to upgrade to bigger TV since i sold my 22” Westinghouse 1080p & 32” Vizio 1080p TV. I was thinking of getting a smart TV or just a regular 1080p TV since i have a Roku device to use. And I don’t want to spend too much $$$ to a newer TV so i found this Insignia 43” smart and give it a try ‘coz i used to have a Insignia brand way back and it last me for almost 9-10yrs if I remember. So bought this Insignia 43” and it perfectly fits in my room but by the time i installed it and hook up all those cable and set up the firestick, the weird thing is that when i am watching a movie im trying to make the sound loud since i have the sound bar hook up. The movie i am watching was going fast forward when i pressing my sound bar remote. So i pause the movie with the Firestick remote and control the volume again with the sound bar remote, we’ll it happens again the movie going past forward. I was like what the heck is happening with my brand new TV?. So the next day morning when I am trying to watch a movie again my TV won’t turn on, so i pressed the Firestick TV again but i failed. Wait for 5mins and no luck. So i manually pressed the button under the TV and it turn on, but the apps on the screen got freezed for no reason. I got disappointed with this TV and returned it that same day Jan 01, 2019 and i just bought this last Dec 31, 2018. Not even 24hrs i had this TV. Idk if its the Firestick that cause of it or maybe the TV itself. So i change this to another brand with the same size and lil’ bit cheaper

Just got it today and very impressed. Very good HD resolution. I was surprised even the built in speakers do not sound that bad at all. Love the Amazon Fire TV interface. Been a Fire TV user for over a year so very used to the interface. Voice commands work great. Price is amazing for how good the set is.
