You get what you pay for.. Not bad while it lasts.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.***For those who care about a more detailed review, read the whole thing. Anyone who's impatient and wants a more "straight to the point approach," just scroll down to the bottom. So I purchased this TV just under 3yrs ago during a black Friday sale for something like $199.99 or $249.99. When I bought it I wasn't really in the market for a TV but when I saw the price and the fact it was a roku 4k TV I decided to try it out. I've had a couple insignia brand TVs and never had a problem with their quality. I'll start off by what I liked before getting to the issues I've had with this TV. Pros: -Very inexpensive -It won't rival the top brands but seeing the 4k for the first time was a pretty great experience - The built in roku is amazing as someone who uses it. It's very simple to operate, has smart features, it works like apps on a smartphone where you can download the ones you use and change certain features to your liking. You can even use your cable service through it without hooking up a single device to it. I had XFINITY when I got it and was able to download the XFINITY APP streaming channel and watch exactly the same as if using a set top box. It also works with AT&T TV and U-verse as well which is what I currently have due to moving and watching on this TV is no different that watching on our living room TV which has the actual set top box hooked up to it. Only difference is bc it uses streaming channels i don't have to use an AT&T remote and worry about switching between multiple remotes. I know I've gone on about this but I feel this feature right here is it's strongest point and I don't want to give it less than it deserves before I move on to my issues with it as I'm sure for most ppl will scare them off of buying this TV. So with that said this feature, the built in roku is so convenient and great to use i actually prefer this platform over the LG smart TVs software that definitely out performs by far visually but was also far more expensive. Cons: -Sometimes there are issues with volume to where lower volumes are almost impossible to hear without turning it up more which wouldn't be an issue except that when a loud or startling noise happens it tends to be overwhelming loud. There are no features that allow you to really tweak these settings and despite having tried using speakers and other methods, I have never been able to correct this issue and so we have had to either choose to be unable to hear conversations during shows and movies or experience startling volumes when anything loud takes place in what's being watched. -Lastly and probably the biggest issue I have had and something i know most will call a deal breaker. Sometime around a year and a half to two years after having it we started noticing faint dark spots around the left top quarter of the screen that resembles finger smudges. It turned out they weren't smudges but some kind of issues inside the television and even after trying to thoroughly research what it is and how to fix it I could find nothing to fix it or give answers. At first it wasn't so bad but slowly became more and more pronounced as it started to cover the entire screen. Now you can clearly see them mainly when the screen is emitting lighter tones like white. Also there seems to now be another problem developing as I newly discovered what I thought was a small gnat on the screen but ended up finding out that whatever the problem is. It's definitely inside the screen and almost looks like a chip in a windshield. ***Bottom line you can expect to get a good year maybe close to two years of fairly decent quality TV or at least I did and so I'd recommend it for younger children maybe or as a television inside a small business for customers. Basically anyone who isn't picky or has unrealistic expectations for a TV priced for 200 bucks. Other than that the software it uses and usability are all great and perfect for a situation where a decent TV is wanted for couple years or so.

Worth every penny!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Picture quality is amazing. The brightness of the screen is top quality. The sound is crisp and clear. This TV doesn't need a sound bar added. The price was unbeatable for black friday deals. The size is perfect for any room. The set up took just about 5 minutes. My favorite part is the smart tv features and how I can customize it to my liking. Runnnnnnn to buy this TV!

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this TV after my bedroom TV went out, this Insignia 50" had good reviews an the price was right. I've had this TV now for about 2 years an because everything is still working great I'm about to upgrade my living room to another Insignia but this time a 75". I play my Xbox on here daily, watch youtube all the time an it looks just as good actually better than any TV I have ever owned.

Good quality especially for the price
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good tv given the price. Set up easy. I like not having to buy a fire stick because its built in! Im not used to having the guide as the first screen when the tv is turned on but i guess thats convenient. There is no way to punch in the channel (no numbers on remote) i am only using an antenna no cable.

Insignia TVs haven't let me down in two decades!
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.....and this unit is no different! I still have this unit and plan to relocate it to different area. Honestly, the ONLY reason I am "replacing" it is the fact I had a chance to score a much bigger tv for a RIDICULOUS price this Black Friday. Otherwise, I would have happily continued watching this tv in the living room - probably for years to come. I actually recommended this very tv to my parents (I am working class, they are middle class - so their home purchases tend to be "higher caliber" than mine) and my tech-savvy retired engineer of a father has been VERY pleased with it. He even, almost, gave me a compliment about it - but he caught himself before making that mistake. In all seriousness, the ONLY thing you need to do with Insignia televisions is make sure you pick ones with 4+ stars and mostly personal preference complaints (not parts breaking or glitches, etc) and I could ALMOST guarantee your satisfaction for as long as you own the dang thing! My longest Insignia run was my first one, an old 24" I bought waaaaay back in the mid-2000s and repurposed as a computer monitor after I upgraded to the 32" ones. Oh, to be in my 20s again! No thanks! The tvs are BIGGER and BETTER now! And, that is saying a LOT in my experiences with Insignia! Oh, the only thing I will say as a warning is - if you dislike Amazon/Prime or don't have (or want) an Amazon account - don't get this or ANY fireTV smart Insignia TV. The smart features are limited and even a bit annoying without an account - I found that out when I deleted my Amazon account and my homes screen was mostly this ANNOYING notification about "features are limited - sign in to your account..." blah blah blah.

Pretty Good 50" Smart LED TV For The Price.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got lucky again buying a new TV at Best Buy. Seven years ago, I got myself an open-box 32" Westinghouse LED TV at over 25% off its regular price. It's still very much alive and performing quite well. This year, I wanted an upgrade to a 50" Smart TV for my new but somewhat small living room. After a rather extensive search and review on Best Buy's web site, I focused on this particular TV, largely due to it having Amazon Fire built in. All I needed was to sync it with my current Amazon Fire account settings and preferences. Certainly, price was a huge factor with an instant 25% discount from its already-reasonable $399.99 down to 299.99. As with my previous TV purchase seven years ago, I again chose an open-box item for $274 for another 8% off. Combining a number of gift cards and coupons I had on hand, I got the TV for just a little over $200. I then used the savings for a full-motion Best Buy mount at also a reasonable price. The new TV's been with us for about two months now and has been performing well, with adequate picture quality, but not at par with the well-known brands like Samsung. My main complaints: 1) Not-so-good sound quality and volume from its built-in speakers. I hooked it to a low-priced Logitech PC speaker set which turned out fine for the size of my living room. 2) The Amazon Fire-style remote should have number buttons so I can easily change channels when watching over-the-air (free) broadcasts. As for its service life, only time will tell.

Buy it and enjoy!
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great TV. I own an LG C8 and several Samsung TVs. This TV is right up there as far as quality and ease of use. My 5 year old can flip through the smart menu at lightning speed. Love that. Easy set up to internet and downloading apps. Picture quality is fantastic too. No issues with judder or lag or anything. 2 knocks and they are minor. The power button on the tv has to be held really long to turn it off. Also the tv gives an error message if it doesn’t detect the remote - this happens when I play video games on an hdmi turn it off and then back on later. Hitting the enter button on the remote is a quick fix. Simple but I do fear that one day I will lose the remote and the tv will not function without it. I bought 2 additional 32 inch TVs in this same model. I like TVs! These are good! Don’t let the low price fool you.

Fragile
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this insignia 50” tv to place in the kitchen to be able to watch tv while washing dishes or giving our baby a bath in the sink. This tv did exactly what we needed it to, colors were good, functionality was great/fast, sound was good as well. No issues with this product. The reason why I’m giving a 4 star rating was cause my cousin bumped his head by accident on the corner of the tv, it wasn’t even a bad bump, yet the tv seemed to have been damaged. When we turn it on, it looks normal, however, when we play a video from YouTube or other streaming service, the colors start looking weird and the picture goes out smh. In other words, this is a very sensitive product.

Great tv
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this on a whim for my husband after he started complaining about the TV situation in our room. I came to best buy and searched for something I could pick up the same day that was at least 50inches and this bad boy popped up. I didn't even look at the specs I just wanted to shut him up. First off I was pleasantly surprised it fit in the back seat of my volkswagen jetta with EASE! So, yay it gets a lot of points for that. It was easy to set up but of course you'll need an additional person. The quality is great, we love the built in Alexa feature. The volume is fantastic. I mean even though its for my husband I really enjoy the TV

Learned Lesson Pain by Legal Theft
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As much as I hate to admit it, now, after receiving, setting up, and playing with the new 50 inch, 4K, smart, Firestick, Insignia Tv from BestBuy, I sure wish my 68 inch, 4K, smart, Roku, Samsung TV from a different retailer was Firestick instead. Roku’s strict arrogant mentality NOT to allow YOUR choice of apps resonates thru out the TV’s (& remote’s) operating system methodology. My advise.. go w/ Firestick, you WILL thank yourself repeatedly later. Whereas this ain’t been much of a plug for BestBuy so far, let me add that price was a weighted consideration w/ the 68” Tv, & I bought it at a GOOD price. It took a fair amount of effort, time, diligence, and tenacity, on my part to surf BestBuy’s warehouse, & close out, & open box TV’s available BUT, it paid off in spades, I walked away with this Tv at a GREAT price, for all practical purposes, I STOLE it from ‘em. It’s in perfect condition. So, IF you feel wary of what you might receive (justifiably), I’m here to tell you simply… don’t. If BestBuy’s only HALF as consistent with the lengths they go to sell me another (anything), keep the faith, they got ya covered. But understand (which I wish I didn’t) BestBuy can’t remove the Roku & install a Firestick, even they have limits, & my intelligence is beyond BestBuy’s. Would I consider Best Buy to buy my next TV? You bet, first in line, count on it. Plus, I kinda like the surfing too AND when else am I (or you) gonna LEGALLY steal a Tv (or something else), huh?

Very Pleasant Surprise
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I absolutely love this television for so many reasons. Firstly and most importantly, the picture quality is amazing. I am a big football person and for the moment I use this TV on the floor with one game with another game on my 65" "BIG name brand". The Insignia picture is superior especially the color and sharpness. Secondly, I love the FireTV component especially with Thursday night games being on Amazon prime. This TV is EXCELLENT value for money.

Great brand! Excellent Product!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the 4th Insignia TV I've purchased; 3 of which are Smart TVs. This year, I purchased 2 of these 50" Smart TVs to go into my twins' "big boy" rooms. The one previously owned served them well in a shared room until one of them had the bright idea to kill a fly on the screen using a hairbrush. <insert eye rolls> At any rate, I am very happy with this TV. It's an excellent size, is a Smart TV, and is easy to use. Insignia has proven to be a very reliable brand in my family. The lower price point during Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals is just icing on the cake! Outstanding brand quality Best Buy..KUDOS!
