Love the TV unhappy with Amazon Fire TV software!

Very nice TV for the price and great picture. The reason I cannot give this TV five stars is because of the Amazon Fire TV software. First, not enough internal storage, only 8 GB! Yes, you can add external, like a 32 GB, but very few apps allow you to move them there as Amazon lets the app developer decide not the user! So, as you watch shows it fills up your internal storage. Part of the problem is you can delete cache, but have to open each app, no way to clear all cache at once. This makes it hard to allow updates for apps, so either you have to delete apps to update an app or apps or waste time deleting cache, which still may not allow you to update an app without deleting apps. Very frustrating and I have only had the tv for about 4 weeks! I did get two or three apps on the usb device, but 1 time when I rebooted the tv it had me reinvent the device so I had to read the apps, but now I cannot find the apps to allow me to put them back! They should either allow internal storage upgrade or allow the user to decide where apps g9 and even allow a default setting to install apps on usb. So the usb external device is useless! If I could use it, it would be awesome! So if you go all wifi for content, you will be disappointed unless you use only a very few apps. The worst part is I cannot find where to give them this feedback! They only have a help screen that is not helpful! Fix this issue and all Amazon fire tv devices become awesome and more useful!,

Second purchase of Insignia 50" for our bedroom. This is a great tv for the price. Picture is surprisingly good. With Alexa built in my spouse can navigate with ease. Not quite sure how storage works though.App settings tells me that my space is almost full so I empty caches and delete some data. This needs to be done fairly often which one needs to keep on top of. This is a nuisance as my spouse is not a gadget or tech person. If anyone out there can instruct me on remedying this draw back , I would appreciate it .

Didnt want to spend a lot of money for a tv since it would be in a guest room. Got a fairly good pre black friday price on it and brought it home. Picture quality is good and the amazon smart features are a plus. Interface is snappy and seeming this is my First Fire TV I am suprised. Only nitpik would be the remote. It does not light up or glow so operating it at night is a challenge.

I wanted a somewhat inexpensive tv that i can transport from my living room/dining room out to my back patio/deck and this tv was a darn good choice. Lightweight, slim, and a picture quality that matches some of the more pricier units. Sure, it's not the greatest choice tv if we want to watch it diring the day when the sun is out and we're on the back patio BBQ-ing as the picture isn't bright enough to shine through the sunlight, but it was either pay $339 or $3,000 for a similar size outdoor tv. But it's picture quality is fantastic when watching it indoors or at night. It's packed with features and is even better if you have Amazon Prime. It's easy to install different streaming apps, but it takes a bit of playing around to figure out how to uninstall apps, so the interface could be a bit more user friendly. I've been an avid Samsung user so I'm spoiled with the ease of use of the Samsung interface so I'm not a huge fan of the Amazon Fire interface, but since I'm a Prime member, it does make it a bit better. No one really buys a flat screen tv for it's sound as any semi tech literate person knows you'll get much better sound quality with a sound bar, but I have to say, this tv's sound is quite impressive with a "bass boost" setting that actually works. You can tell Best Buy/Insignia put some thought and effort into the speakers on this unit. I would've much rather preferred they offered this model with a 120Hz refresh rate rather than just 60Hz. I've only ever owned flat screen with at least 120Hz, so im not sure of it's just certain apps, but I've noticed a bit of picture "lag" on this unit but only when using the CW tv streaming app, so far no lag on any of the sports apps I use or even watching a movie on Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon Prime. I performed a WiFi test and had optimal streaming speeds, so to my knowledge, it wasn't an issue with my download speeds. Other than the 60Hz refresh rate and the user interface not being the most user friendly, I would've given this unit a 4.5 to 5 star rating.

We were hesitant at first bc we are used to Roku TVs. There was a little learning curve but its our favorite tv in the house now. The sound quality is excellent. I sometimes confuse the sounds with outside and have to pause it to be sure lol. It was a great price too. It sometimes has storage issues which is a bit much to go through with a TV but you can attach a USB for additional storage.

I absolutely love my TV. The picture and sound are good. Of course it's different from my android Google based TV that I've had for 3 years but I needed a TV in the living room and went with this one based on price and size. I'm extremely happy with it. It is pretty easy to use. I don't care for the functionality of the apps. You have limited spaces for favorites but it's just a couple of extra steps and I'm sure there's probably a set up that can maximize efficiency but I'm not a tech person. But that's not really a big deal.

If I had to give one word describing this TV, it would be this: good. There isn't anything exceptional about this TV, except for its value, but there isn't anything terribly bad either. I replaced an 11-year-old 47" LED Insignia TV I had. Colors were beginning to fade, skin tones were looking gray, and I know it was only a matter of time before it would give up the ghost. It put in 11 years of solid use; it was time for a replacement. I picked this up during a sale for $330. I paid $30 more than going through Amazon but I could pick the TV up immediately. The bezels are thinner than my 47" older model so the TV itself takes up less space. It is thicker than my older TV and the legs aren't as premium as the middle swivel my previous TV had but that's all right. I paid $1000 for my TV 11 years ago and this was one third the price. The remote is small and easy to use. I wish there was a YouTube TV button or even an HBO Max button instead of a Prime Video instant access button, but this is a Fire TV, Amazon isn't going to let them ship without remotes having Prime Video buttons. It took about half an hour to get the TV setup. The OS had an update, apps had to be downloaded and logged into, and I adjusted some of the TV's settings. I changed a few out of the box. The TV isn't very bright, and I left the backlight on 100%. The brightness at 100% is about what my old TV was at 60% (at least that's what the app I used on my phone says). But this is also a 4K panel whereas my old one was 1080p. I don't think the Fire TV OS is as user-friendly as Apple's tvOS but it isn't bad. I have access to every streaming app I use: YouTube TV, Netflix, Discovery+, HBO Max, Disney+, Hulu, Apple TV, Paramount+, Prime Video, and Peacock. The Apple TV app lets me watch Apple original programs and have access to every movie I have ever purchased in full 4K HDR (that's if they're HDR10). Speaking of HDR, this TV is "fake" HDR. Images from HDR sources don't look different from SDR videos, the TV's peak brightness is well below what's required for a true HDR experience. That's fine though, this is a $330 TV and it's not fair to compare it to the more expensive 65" QLED panel in my living room. The TV works with HDR10 sources and will at least display the video. One thing I noticed is that I'm not having internet connectivity issues with the Fire TV OS. I usually have to hardwire my Fire TV devices via ethernet to my network. I have a mesh Wi-Fi setup with three nodes spread throughout my house. I have a Fire Cube in my living room and a couple of Fire TV 4K sticks in my basement and guest bedroom. All three would have issues maintaining a solid connection to my Wi-Fi network and eventually fully disconnect or drop videos down to 480p. No matter what I did, I could never get them to keep a stable connection. They're all plugged into different nodes via ethernet and are fine. This TV though, it has maintained a solid connection and doesn't drop the resolution of 4K HDR sources. I've watched a few 4K movies on Disney+, through Prime Video, Netflix, and the Apple TV app. They all play fine without any interruption or decrease in quality. Alexa is built into this TV, and you can ask it broad questions, make smart home commands, or ask info about what you're watching (only in the Prime Video app with content that has X-Ray enabled). It's fine for what it is. Searching for content will always bring up purchase/rental/streaming options through Prime Video but that's to be expected. All-in-all, this is a solid TV that I haven't had any issues with. I wouldn't want this as my primary TV, but it is nice for a bedroom, kid's room, or some other secondary use. I use the TV in my bedroom for 30-60 minutes at night before going to bed and this fits the bill, and then some. It's not going to replace any flagship model from other brands, but it isn't meant for that. Just keep your expectations in-check and you'll be fine.

So far so good, installed in a vacation home and haven't had a chance to use it a great deal yet but arrived in perfect condition, easy to install/setup, so far seems to work fine good picture and sound, affordable/great price, like Best Buy extended warranties (which I hopefully won't need to use, have had another Insignia for a few years no problems). Have to get used to having just streaming Fire TV with no cable this time!
