After receiving a very damaged package I am going to give it a try. So far appears to be working as expected. Too soon to tell if I would recommend or not. I just want to show the condition this was received. The box was left upside down with no bottom and taped with clear packing tape. Also the product had some scuffs to it as well. The nearest store is 2 hours away. This is the first issue I have ever had with an online order.

Broken out of the box, this is a second one having this P2 error message and Bestbuy tech wont able to fix it. I bought the same model 4 years ago and it is still working. That is why I want to get a second one. I think the quality is downgraded and QA control is bad now. Very disappointed and wasted my time to visit the store to return again this new out of box broken item. I hope Bestbuy should provide some incentive for me for this second time issue out of box problem for incentive and good customer

This item is not great. I am on my second one (warrenty replacement) and it continues to freeze over. I can't get insignia to respond to any of my correspondance and the whole experience has been very frustrating.

Saving my basement and it's contents!

The Insignia 50 Pint Dehumidifier was just what I needed for my humid seemingly damp basement. I was able to get it at a one time/day price sale at Best Buy which was great because I had my eye on it for quite a while. The dehumidifier runs very very quietly. It is a breeze to set up and you have the option to empty the water collection draw yourself or set up a hose (which did not come with the product) to continuously drain out into an open drain via the hose. The unit always shuts off as soon as the collection of water reaches a certain point. The collection draw can seem a bit heavy at 50 pints, filled to about 2 inches below the top of the draw, but if you are close to the sink, you will have no problem and be less apt to spill the water. The draw also has a convenient handle to help you lift and steady the filled draw.
I can tell you that I am amazed at how much water this unit pulls out of the air, even after running for a few weeks. My basement is about 22' x 44' x 10'. As soon as you pop the empty draw back into it's compartment, the unit immediately and automatically begins to function again. If you think you need one, you will love this Insignia 50 Pint Dehumidifier!

This has been a great buy. I love that its not super bulky. The wheels on the bottom makes it really easy ro move from one side of the room to another. I like the fact that you can connect a hose to the dehumidifier for continuous use. If you decide not to use the hose and you have it running on regular mode you will have to dump out the water in 5 hours which is not bad at all. If you put the unit in comfort mode it will last you almost all day. The humidity in my apartment is at 68% so it was worth the buy. Its also saving my a/c unit from overworking causing it to breakdown on me. My only complaint is it should have a remote. The filter is easy to clean as well.

It has been over a month since I had been using this in my basement. So far I have not found a reason to complain. I have used it in continuous mode for about 2 weeks as well as without hose attached - where it would stop when the bucket gets full.
There are some cool features that I did not have in Frigidaire dehumidifierI had before. One of them is you can set number of hours when the unit can stop or start, if it is powered on. The other cool feature is comfort setting - wherein it sets the humidity level and maintains it. I noticed that it stops in between, may be a quick break, but resumes back up.
Its not any quieter than Frigidaire one I had but it is cheaper, delivered in 2 days at my doorstep , can's ask anything better.
To be cautious, I have to see how long will this last - anything over 2 years would really be worth the money I paid for, though I hope it will go longer than that.

Great Dehumidifier for the Price

The 50 Pint Insignia Dehumidifier works great and does exactly what I need. Our two room, 800-900 square foot, unfinished basement get humid and damp in the spring and summer, which creates that stagnant basement smell. This dehumidifier quickly cuts down the humidity in the basement and reduced the smell significantly. It stops automatically when full to prevent spilling and flooding and is easy to empty and reinstall the container. The two rooms in our basement do not have drywall yet, just framing and studs, so airflow is great and the dehumidifier can be placed in the framed out doorway between the two rooms and works for the entire basement. In a basement that is larger or has walls and doors that restrict airflow, you may need to move the dehumidifier between rooms to have it works effectively. If I place the dehumidifier deep into one of the two rooms instead of equally between the two, it is not as effective for the room furthest from the dehumidifier. It is perfect for open basements up to around 1,000 sq-ft, but may struggle with larger basements or basements with many sectioned off/individual rooms.

Bought this December 2020 but it didn't get much use until a rainy spring. So now I can write the review about it.
Compared to other dehumidifiers I have used over the years this one is the quietest. Not saying it's the quietest one out there but better than what I have dealt with in the past 30+ years. I use it mostly in the garage section of my basement that isn't air conditioned.
Keep in mind that a dehumidifier is basically an air conditioner on wheels. That is it has a compressor to pump refrigerant, evaporator coil that gets cold to condense the moisture in the air on it, like a cold glass sweating outside in a southern summer and a condenser that gets hot. The heat goes from the evaporator to the condenser via the compressor and refrigerant to put it in simple terms. After the moist air goes over the cold evaporator it's cooled. It then passes over the hot condenser to warm it back up. The air coming out will always be a little warmer than the air going in. Just the nature of process.
It's pretty easy to unpack, hook up and use. It rolls easily too.
I really like the way the bucket comes out and the handle feels good in the hand. The bucket holds about one and two thirds gallons of water which means it's not too heavy to handle. It slips in and out easily which means no spillage unless you are just rough and careless when removing it.
The controls are well placed and easy to use. It reads out the humidity when running after you set the desired humidity. The reading is very accurate as I have a uHoo air monitor and the readings match within 3% or less.
One thing to make a reminder to do is put some bleach in the water bucket every month or so. Or anytime you notice mold or black starting to grow in it. Clean it up if necessary first. If you have water and heat and air your will have fungus grow. Period! I'm an HVAC/R contractor and I speak from experience.
Conclusion is that it does what it's supposed to do and so far it has done that very well. As for the life of the product before it will need replaced, I cannot answer but generally dehumidifiers last a long time as far the compressor and sealed system in general goes. As for the electronic controls I would guess the some nowadays. I have noticed that pretty much all dehumidifiers look a lot alike. All made by the same company maybe? Very possible. Not uncommon nowadays.

Insignia 50 pint dehumidifier was a great purchase.
Unit was priced right, delivered quickly, and works great.
This unit is well made, quiet, and pull a high amount of moisture from my basement air.
Hooked up a hose to the rear connection to bypass the built in tank to eliminate the need to empty it.
Settings are easy to use, and this unit keeps basement dry.
Great item from BB.

Works great! Very impressed with the quality of this unit. The feature set is excellent too. It is quiet and the only thing you hear is the fan noise recirculating. It's completely dried my basement out. I have it set to 50% humidity to save energy and it maintains it no problem. Without the dehumidifier I would be at about 80% humidity.

purchased two for very damp basement

I purchased two of these for a very damp basement. They are doing a GREAT job, the humidity level has gone way down. It is easy to remove the filter, just pops off the back for cleaning, and the dehumidifier continues running while the filter is off so you don't have to shut it down while the filter dries. These machines are much quieter than my old machine. I purchased 4-year warranties on them in hopes that I will at least get four years. Hopefully more!

I've bought several of these for my house, and it is most definitely a great product. My house gets quiet humid and it does a great job taking away this humidity. Small side note though, when the tank gets filled with water, it does become relatively heavy and maybe hard to carry for some. I try to empty the tank before it becomes full to avoid any possible back aches or pain. That being said, the product itself works great and I would definitely recommend it as a dehumidifier.

What do you like? It’s doing great. Nice footprint. It’s a lot stronger than the old models we had, so it pulls a lot of water out more quietly and quickly.
What don’t you like? The plastic on the pull-out drawer is a little thin, you could cut your hands on it if you’re not careful. The Older ones are heavier and smoother but less efficient and louder. This one’s great as long as I’m careful.

Works very well! Very quiet! 50 pint, coming from a 70 pint, i may purchase a second one because i feel it needs emptied too often, which is a good thing. My basement does get damp during heavy rains in one area so this is a must for me. Id highly recommend it. It DOES however have a connection for a hose drain, i just keep it a distance away from my drain in the basement.

This dehumidifier so far seems to be working great. Easy to use, just set to desired setting and forget about it and let it do its thing. Can use the removable bucket to discard the water collected or connect a hose to the unit to let run directly to a drain. Would recommend.
