    Great TV!

I bought this to replace an LG TV that died on me. This TV is very good, however my Vizio sound bar only works independently. So, now I have to use the following remotes for various uses: 1) The included Roku remote for switching between Roku, AppleTV, and my cable box 2) My AppleTV remote in order to use my Apple TV 3) My cable remote, for cable TV 4) Vizio remote for my sound bar I find myself stressed out when I use this TV, and I'm pretty sure my wife thinks I am mentally challenged now, because I am always trying to find one of the remotes. Speaking of which, now she doesn't even know how to work our TV - this is something she was barely able to grasp before. A universal remote may be of use, but I don't think my wife is smart enough to use it.

I have an Insignia Roku TV I bought for my home office. It was a great price and had everything I was looking for in a television. I love that TV! After such a great experience with it, I decided to purchase this one for my mother as a gift. She is getting older and while her set is still working perfectly, it is small and a larger set would provide a better viewing experience for her. The television worked fine the first day, providing a clear picture in 1080. If you are expecting the performance of a $2000 TV, expect to pay that price. For the price, everything was more than adequate. I tested some 4K content and the picture was crisp and colorful. It wasn't until the first night the problems began. The sound cut off, while the picture played normally. We could not use the remote to change the channel or turn off the TV. The buttons on the TV were not functioning. We had to unplug the TV and leave it unplugged for several minutes. In the first 7 days, the television did that multiple times. Sometimes the picture cut out and the sound played, but it still had to be unplugged. It turned off by itself and turned on by itself several times. The picture blinked on and off. She loved the clarity and the sound, it has great sound for a flat screen, but we had to return it. The problems were occurring too often. We will be purchasing another brand, name brand this time, and spending considerably more.

TV is good, but has a few flaws.

The biggest issue I have with this TV is when a plain grey image is on the screen, you can see all the uneven backlight spots. Another issue I'm kicking myself with is I paid too much for this now that I see it's on sale for only $549. I love the built in roku, only thing that I'm really happy about, but if I had to do it all again, I would buy a different TV and a separate roku.

You can never go wrong with this 4K UHD TV...for just $599, you're getting a very good deal. Roku TV built-in is just amazing. Where can you get a 55" 4K UHD TV for just $599? Easy installation and set-up. Great product indeed!!!

    Bad product, worse customer service

I purchased this model in July 2016 and picked the tv up from my local Best Buy. If I could give the experience less than 1 star, I would. Within a three weeks of purchase, the picture on the television would continue to jump, regardless if I was using cable, ROKU or gaming. I did some research and found this was not unusual for Insignia products so I called the manufacturer directly. Over the course of weeks, I jumped through hoops of resetting the power, contacting my cable provider for a new digital cable box, and various other steps they asked. The process was cumbersome and only via email as you cannot get anyone to answer a telephone. Finally, it was decided that the problem needed to be escalated to local, on-site service for repair. As unhelpful as dealing with Insignia had been, it has so far been trumped by Geek Squad. It took over a week to get a technician to come to my house. When he did, he spent a grand total of 5 minutes at my house watching the screen and confirming what I had reported. No repair, no service. I called Geek Squad to see if the TV could be exchanged and was informed that it requires three visits to my house before I would be able to send the TV to them for evaluation. Not exchange, evaluation to determine if it needs to be exchanged. So, I have to wait almost two weeks for the 2nd visit to get a part replaced that the original technician advised might or might not resolve the issue. Bottom line, this has been a terrible experience. I understand that there are potentially issues with hardware but the lack of service from the manufacturer and Geek Squad is why I am sharing this review.

For the $$, this is the best tv available! This features a VA Panel. Black level is excellent. DSE is minimal! Watched some NHL playoff action and no panning/blur issues. Roku is the icing on the cake.

I was really hopeful whenever I read all of the positive reviews about this set. The price was far lower than I expected for a 4k smart TV. Nice picture, easy to use Roku interface, and easy to set up with wifi. My problem however lies with the reliability. We bought the first set in December. By mid January, the sound was acting funny. It would be at maximum volume when I turned it on and I could not reduce the sound with the remote or on the set itself. I tried factory resetting it and this remedied the sound issue.....For 2 days. At this point, we had no sound and decided to return it to Best Buy for a replacement. It is now March 2nd, and the sound has completely dropped out of my replacement set as well. We will be returning and choosing another brand.

I'm impressed with all of the features and aspects of this tv. I've had it for about 3 weeks and it's great. The picture and sound quality is A-1. I didn't have to do too much adjusting to the tv and there are a ton of adjustment options to get the perfect picture you want. The $449 asking price is steal for the quality you get from this "55" 4K product by Insignia. I'm seriously pondering getting another one at such a great deal.
