We had just recently purchased a new home and decided on buying a new TV for our faily room. Granite we originally decided we were going to face the crowds on blck friday in hopes of scoring of great deal on a 55 or 60. I orginally read the reviews on the samsung and vizio and since i had recieved the black friday paper so i was pleased with the prices and geared up to wait in the lines. we went in best buy to view the tv in person to see if it would be to big for the area we were placing it. after seeing the isignia with all the different features and size we were sold. we went ahead and purchased the TV then. mind you this is my 2nd isignia tv. I purchased one in June when the one in my bedroom unexpectedly went out ( Dynex purchased in 2010). the Tv has over 2000 apps and shows great. not to mention it was on sale for $499. Great TV for the price. I would highly reccomend this TV if you are in the market for a good smart TV for the the price.

We bought this tv, and after a year and a half the screen has literally warped, and the “smart technology” is so slow.... Buyer beware!

My bromance was in peril because of the tiny TV we were using in my mancave. Screen real estate was at a premium, and when playing split screen Xbox games, eye strain and lack of clarity was causing accusations about foul gameplay to fly. Fights broke out. My bromance resorted to secret rendezvous on Xbox live with other men. I knew something had to change. I bought this Insignia 55 inch Roku TV on sale and set it up and it has saved our bromance. The size, of course, makes all the difference, but the picture quality is terrific, with a broad range of adjustments possible with easy menus, plus game mode which increases the response rate. The Roku is great, better than Amazon Fire TV. My bromance and I have settled into gaming bliss, and the only thing we fight about now is if he should have to share the recliner with my chihuahua, Louie.

These went on sale a few weeks back for $499, so I picked one up. It's an excellent TV and the build-in Roku is a great feature. One potential knock on it is that it's only 60 Hz, however, I have never had any issues with watching sports, etc at 60 Hz. If that is critical, then there are a couple 120/240 Hz 55" TVs available in the $600 range. The default settings for the picture were not to my liking as I like a realistic picture that's not overly saturated. It took about 5-10 minutes of playing around with the settings to find a good general setup that worked across sports, movies, etc.

I purchased this tv on sale Saturday and Insignia Rocks . I have at least 5 other insignia TV's and never had a problem. The color and picture look better at home than in the store. The setup and installation was a breeze including setting up Roku to my high speed wifi. I leave it on the sports setting and watching hockey I have seen no blur and follow the puck much better than my old RCA. I really like the speech setting for audio , I can understand what people are saying. Roku is working flawlessly and I have found extra hiddenrokuchannels. on the internet that add to my lineup. I am almost ready to cut the cable cord .

I had an bad experience with this TV. I was unable to get the device to sync up with my wifi. Every other device in the house would work but this TV. It was definitely a lemon and has turned me off to smart TVs completely.

    Ideal TV For Cord Cutters

I have wanted to cut the cable cord for some time so I conducted plenty of research on my options prior to this purchase. I decided on the Roku Insingnia TV product. I previously bought a 48" Insignia TV 6 years ago and it is still going strong so I already had confidence in the brand, however, this TV has exceeded my expectations. The picture is clear and crisp. The sound is great. The ease of use is excellent. It is truly plug and play. There is no configuring sticks or boxes. This is just what I wanted and I will be buying 2 more very soon.

I did research because I am cutting the cord and wanted a seamless experience. I read PC MAG named it editors choice plus some other reviews and decided to go for it and I tell you it's the best $579 I've ever spent. I can't believe how easy it is to switch between different sources and apps. How I can connect it to my home theater system and it can be controlled with its own remote....COOL!!! The picture is just great. I am replacing a Samsung 42" Plasma and couldn't be happier. I highly recommend it.

I'm surprised how good this tv is.

I knew I wanted a HD TV with built in Roku. I was leaning toward the LG or Sharp models because I was familiar with those brands. I saw this Insignia 55 inch Roku TV on sale at Best Buy. I was hesitant because I don't know much about Insignia other than it is Best Buy's house brand. I read all the reviews and saw that this Insignia model seemed to get better reviews than all the other Roku TV models. I gave it a shot and I am glad I did. It was very easy to set up and it is so simple to use. The biggest surprise for me was how good the picture is. It's outstanding. I would highly recommend this TV.

    Good Picture, WiFi Connectivity Issues

I purchased the TV a month ago and was please with the ease of setup and good picture. The TV worked well for the first two weeks before the issues started happening. The TV has stopped connecting to WiFi and shuts off every time it tries to find a WiFi signal. It is not even able to find available networks, even though my router is in the same room. Insignia customer service instructed me to rest the TV, but this did not correct the issue. They are sending a repair tech, but did not have any info as to what the problem is, or if this is common or not.

I am sorry to hear you are having issues with the Wifi functionality on the unit, as that restricts most of the benefits of the Roku service. I am glad to hear that the Geek Squad does have you scheduled for a repair tech, which should get you back into regular use of the streaming services. – Jon, Insignia Support BBY-ExBrand_Insignia

    Amazing TV for the price.

We purchased this TV for the living room. The interface is extremely easy to navigate. The large amount of "apps" available is outstanding, and the fact that you can download apps is even better (a lot of smart TV's now a days' don't have that capability). The color is spot on when using HD channels. Easy to set up and use on a daily basis. The small, simple remote that comes with the TV saves hours of random button pressing trying to figure out what is what. The only downfall I see with this TV is the sound quality. If you plan to use this TV as a main source of entertainment (which we do), a surround sound is almost required. The sound is shallow, and lacking.

This is the first smart TV I've ever had so it took me awhile to get things set up properly.. I've never used Roku, only had Chromecast, so that made it a little more difficult.. That being said, I finally learned how to set things up to make it user friendly for me. I have Directv so wanted it to start using that, turn the TV on so it would go directly to regular programming.. I don't have to choose that app from the 'home' screen. In settings it let me make that the default, so that is a plus. I also wanted to be able to use my Directv remote and after spending too much time with Insignia support, I called Directv and it took about 30 seconds.. All I had to do was hold down the mute and enter buttons at the same time until the screen told me my remote was set up.. SO very easy!! Still use the Roku remote that came with the TV to use the functions for Netflix, etc and to get into the TV settings, but other than that, I can leave that remote on the table.. my Directv remote does everything else. I am a bit hard of hearing and have seen where people complain about the sound volume.. don't understand that, because I have to have the volume on low or it's too loud.. LOVE IT!! The 'dumb' TV I'd wanted to begin with was back ordered so I opted to get this and not wait.. very glad I did. Thank you to the manager for helping me get my order switched and I couldn't be happier. I LOVE Best Buy!!!

    Can't get any better!

My wife and I purchased this tv for the den and for use as our main tv, gaming on the PS3 and PS4. I have to say it has been perfect 30 days in. Someone has mentioned that it does not have plugins for external speakers, but IT DOES! It has a digital optical hookup. The sound is amazing without a theatere hookup, but we like the boom on Gameday! The picture is crisp and deep even with the blinds and main door open, a BIG PLUS from our previous tv. The reaction time from the remote can't be better! I would buy this tv a thousand times over, but I truly don't believe I will, I expect many years of reliable service from my Insignia. Unless you have an extra large family room, I would not buy anthing bigger! It's bigger in my home than it was in the store, but hey, I'm a guy, so that is perfectly fine, but it's not too big. It's the perfect size for my home.

I just purchased this TV and un-boxed it and it is everything i was hoping for. Set up was super simple. Having a Roku and Hulu, and Amazon, and Netflix accounts all previous to purchasing this will save you time. The TV itself is chic and smooth. It makes no noise. 3 HDMI cables which know what is on each one (you choose this at initial set up). This is my first 55" TV and i am beyond happy with my purchase. The price was $519.99 after tax. Given that Insignia is made by Samsung, i knew this would be a smart by. Some may find the sound a little softer then most TV's. However, you can always buy a sound bar. I wasn't even going to mention it but compared to other tv's it is less. I would say if you like the price range, buy it!

Great picture and features, but audio issues

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I loved this TV after I got it hooked up. It had a great picture and the Roku interface being built into all of the TV features was awesome. However, when it came to the audio setup with my soundbar, it was very cumbersome. I used the Audio Return Channel feature (ARC) so I can just use one HDMI cable from my LG soundbar to the TV, then all other HDMI cables into the TV itself, which sends all the audio to the soundbar via ARC. However, even with everything set up correct and 3 hours on the phone between Insignia (for the TV) and LG (for the soundbar), I still kept having audio dropout issues. The ARC audio would just randomly disconnect and it was a nightmare to get the signal back. So, I even scratched the idea of using the ARC feature and went pure Optical. Still received random audio dropouts. I thought it may have been a soundbar issues, so, I returned my LG soundbar and swapped it for another (same one). No go. Still had the same issue, which narrowed it down to the TV. So, I returned the TV and paid a little extra for an LG model that was on sale and everything works great, even with ARC on the new LG TV with my soundbar. If you plan on using ARC or a soundbar with this Roku TV, avoid it. However, I don't think there would be any issues with a standard home theater system/receiver.
