Update disabled sound.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ads show up now when I turn on my TV but new update disabled TV speakers. Apparently they put more engineers on the ads team than making the tv actually work.

Budget in Price, but not in Performance!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Insignia™ (NS-55DF710NA19) - 55” Class – LED - 2160p – Smart - 4K UHD TV with HDR – Fire TV Edition The Insignia™ NS-55DF710NA19 is considered a budget 4K UHD TV by most, but it certainly provides a ton of upside to make you think twice about spending 2-5x more for another TV. From the get-go, I can tell you that this sharp LED doesn’t disappoint. The setup process was smooth and painless for me and I would expect it to be the same for most. From attaching the feet to connecting the TV to the network, it was an absolute breeze. From a picture standpoint, this TV doesn’t disappoint. I have enjoyed HDMI fed content from my cable provider as well as Amazon Prime 4K UHD streams (more on this in connected content later). I haven’t noticed any blurring or distortion when watching sports or high action movies either. I definitely witnessed that on my older LCD and that was annoying. I noticed some subtle things, but nothing was even close to cancelling out the brilliance of the picture. Are there some better? Probably, but I am not about to spend 2-5x more for a marginal improvement. Obviously, this TV is geared toward streaming content with it being a Smart TV that has dedicated user interface (UI) for Amazon Fire TV. What does this do for you? This means that the main menu for your experience is going to be Amazon’s UI for content. This doesn’t mean you are only subjected to their content though. You can easily connect Hulu, Netflix, Sling TV, HBO, Starz, and more. There are even dedicated buttons on the remote for Prime, Netflix, HBO, and PS Vue. Focusing on the Amazon content, their menu is nicely laid out to let you choose TV, movies, and specific genre content. The addition of the 4K UHD content recommendations is nice because it allows you to see what the TV has to offer right from the start. Of course, an Amazon Prime subscription is going to be needed for a good deal of you viewing pleasure. Currently, we still have a packaged cable solution so we have to change the input to view that content. While not ideal for viewing our main source of content, it’s not a deal breaker. I did notice that my 6yo and 9yo picked up the change to input and Prime menu options easily and are viewing content on demand just like normal TV. That definitely makes this TV appealing for cord cutters out there. The ability to connect an antenna through coaxial certainly helps with that too. I look forward to testing that out soon enough. The last thing that I want to weigh-in on is the overall connection to Amazon. While it’s nice to have for us, I certainly don’t see this as a major need to have for others and that might make them shy to look at this lineup. We have a heavy influence of Amazon in the house so our Echo, Echo Dot, Fire Stick, Fire TV box, and now are Insignia™ Fire TV are somewhat linked. However, I can tell you that connection from the Echo or Dot to the TV is a little suspect. There are times where Alexa acts like it doesn’t even exist. However, the remote option to communicate with Alexa is nice and works well. My 6yo daughter gets a kick out of teaching her 70+ year grandfather the voice commands. It shows how easily it can be picked up and used though. Stepping away from that Amazon related piece and getting back to the UI, I have to talk about the TV settings. This one could use some work. When watching a Blu-ray or cable content, you have to go all the way back to the Fire startup screen to reach the settings. This is clearly not ideal. It’s nice to adjust the settings while viewing the content that you are trying to perfect. While this isn’t completely awful, it would be nice to have a dedicated settings menu outside of the Fire UI. All in all, I can’t say enough about how well the Insignia™ (NS-55DF710NA19) Fire TV performs. We have enjoyed many movie nights already as well as some TV series binging. I look forward to showing it off for football season, neighborhood movie nights with the kids, and much more.

Not a very smart TV
