    I give up

I had a 50in Hisense 50H6C 4k TV that was just the best TV. The standard setting out of the box was perfect and had really accurate colors. Blacks were great. Never had to fiddle with the settings. I only paid $319 for it. But after two years I wanted to upgrade to something bigger so I sold it on Craigslist for $200. Big mistake. For the life of me I can't get a good picture out of this TV. I can get something that looks good in the daytime but will look terrible at night. Bright scenes and commercials can look decent but anything with dark scenes are terrible, lots of pixelation. I've tried every setting I possibly can but can never be satisfied. Blacks are terrible. Colors are inaccurate. HDR videos have a cloudy haze to them. This is not how HDR is done. The other TV I bought before this had much better HDR but it had HDMI problems. This will be the second TV I'm returning now. Guess I'm going to have to spend some more money to get something halfway decent. I had problems with this TV from the start. First it didn't like my router. Took an hour for the first initial update, Was constantly disconnecting. I did numerous factory resets and then I noticed a small TV update that made it look a little better and seemed to fix the internet issue. Big time glare issues in bright rooms. This thing has a viewing angle of about 30 degrees max before it starts washing out. The only pro about this TV is the guide. Ingenious having antenna and pluto in one guide. Apps loaded quickly. One time the TV just blacked out on me and I had to unplug it pray for it to restart. I wouldn't trust this TV lasting more than a year. This TV gives me the overall feeling of a Westinghouse. I've never had such a problem finding the right TV

    Great when it works

The picture and features were both very good-the only drawback is the life of these tv's. This is the second Insignia I have owned that quit working shortly after the warranty period, It worked fine one second and the next just went blank.

I purchased this TV full price about 4 years ago. Out of no where a black spot on the corner of the TV appeared and then the screen stopped working. It went pitch black. This is disappointing since it didn’t even last at least 5 years. I will never purchase and insigna.

    Not Fully Functional Fire TV

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Advertised as latest version, 4K, volume and power on remote etc. There is no option on this "Fire TV Edition" for control of other equipment such as an AVR, soundbar etc. 45 minutes on the phone with Amazon to finally be told bottom line was I would have to buy a stick or cube to achieve that control. Yes, buy a Fire TV Stick to plug into my brand new, latest version Fire TV Edition TV. They said it is a Toshiba (Insignia) issue, that they have taken that function out of Amazon's software. Picture is OK for the money. Speakers are crap of course but that is expected. Another issue is the horrible design decision of spacing the wall mounts 7 3/4" on center. This is on a TV that is 49" wide! The smallest movement of the brackets results in large changes. Had to take off wall at least 5 times to get level. This is working with the play in the bracket holes, thankfully there is some but of course then you are relying on the friction of the lock washers. I know, you get what you pay for.

Insignia Displays FireTV Menu Too Small To Read

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

55" Insignia software conflicts with FireTV OS and generates a display where the menu is so small that it's nearly impossible to read from the distance of your couch or lounge chair (e.g., est. 8' - 10' dist,). This requires resetting the TV every day or two.

    Decent tv

Got the tv during Black Friday and loved it for the first couple months but now I keep having this issue where the tv speakers just randomly turn themselves off and sometimes come right back on but often end up not working for 20 minutes or some times even longer and then they just randomly decide when to turn back on.

    Annoying

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Tv randomly decides to mute the sound, turning off apps, turning off tv, unplugging tv doesn’t make it work again. It’ll just randomly decide to start working when it’s ready (I’m kind of similar to a man). Tv will randomly pause the show you’re watching, but will continue fine once you hit play again. So it’s not a WiFi issue.

After 2 years, I had a black screen and I wasn’t able to turn on tv. Since I didn’t get insurance I was out of luck. Tried to google help but they said Insignia was a cheap tv and this happens all the time.? Repair costs more than cost for tv. This is junk and so disappointed in best by representing this TV they knew what they were doing and that’s unacceptable

This tv is absolutely great for under a year and a half. Had this tv for 17 months and this thing has been working on and off for the last two weeks ( mostly off). I would never recommend this tv unless it was given to you for free. I thought a company like Best Buy might put out a better product then this. I would be willing to bet most of the good reviews on here are not long term reviews. In the beginning I would have given a great review too but it just doesn’t last. I never write reviews but I went and created an account just so I could. Save yourself some headache and regret and just get something of quality.

    Too Many Problems

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I had a bad experience with this TV. The main problem was an issue with the dynamic contrast setting. In a nutshell, it wouldn't turn off. After fumbling around the Fire TV settings, which aren't very intuitive, I managed to turn off all the settings that I didn't want on, one of them being the dynamic contrast. Once off, the picture was significantly better. However, once I changed the channel or changed an input, it was back on even though it said it was off. I tested this by first turning it off, then changing TV channels, then going to back to the setting and turning it on. I saw no change when I turned it on high. But I did see a major change when I selected off again, the picture would switch back to looking good. An extremely frustrating thing to say the least. The next issue was streaming content. When steaming TV on sling TV or Pluto TV, the picture would just drop out completely and go black. The quality of the stream wasn't very good either, and never seemed to not look pixelated. The app would still work, but there would be no picture. Then it would fix itself and come back on, then go black again. My last and final straw issue was the menu system and overall navigation. Amazon needs to go back to the drawing board with the Fire TV GUI. It's just a mess. It's hard to find things, it takes way too long, about 5 different menus, to get to the picture settings. I know this because I went to them about 500 times trying to fix the picture. And yes, that was with using the home button shortcut. I found myself sifting though menu after menu for far too long and ultimately it was just exhausting. I returned it and got something else.

    Good TV but doesn’t last

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The TV is great and simple to use. However, after less than three years of owning it the screen would not turn on. The blue power light would blink on and off, the screen would flicker for a second and then go black. I tried all of the possible fixes including removing the plug, holding the power button, hard reset, etc. with no luck. Seems that the mother board or internal parts went bad and it’ll be more to have it worked on than to replace it. I know it’s a budget TV but I didn’t expect it to last less than three years. Disappointed.

    Backlight went out

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

We brought this tv back in March 2019. So, at least we got more use out of this tv than others with the same issue have gotten. The backlight went out on it recently. Based on the reviews I’ve seen, this is a common issue. Looks like it would cost more to get it repaired than just buy a new tv. It was great while it lasted. And it was used a lot throughout each day (3 kids). But with that said, we’ve also had 2 other brand tv’s (LG and Samsung) that we have had for years longer and they still work great. Will be buying LG and Samsung brands from now on.

Tons of lag if using for a Computer monitor

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought this to replace my 40 inch insignia 1080P monitor...thinking I can upgrade to something even better! BUT So far I can't figure out the mouse lag issues. Using my 2018 Imac running straight out with a 4k thunderbolt 3 adapter to HDMI AND tried like 4 different HDMI cables some were 4k as well and nothing fixed my problems. Hoping someone sees this and can tell me how to fix my mouse Lag before I choose to return. I like the tv a lot as using netflix and all. BUT if you can't use it for a monitor I may just have stick with the 1080P tv, as I have NEVER had lag on that being my Monitor. IN ALL...TV looks Ok, not the best image. My Imac looks way nicer than this but for 250 bucks on sale I figured why not....
