Beautiful Display!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This tv has a beautiful display with an easy to use user interface. The user interface isn’t laggy or slow by any means. Well worth the price at the $309.99 I paid for it.

The most obnoxiously difficult TV I've ever used.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this TV to replace a five-year-old 60" Sony Bravia that had it's backlight go out. On paper, this Insignia is a superior TV to the Sony in nearly every aspect with the sole exception - in my opinion, that it's Fire OS. I think Fire OS is the absolute worst when it comes to providing a cohesive user experience for a smart TV and I feel like even having it is a disadvantage over the relatively feature barren Sony. But, since I was hooking an Nvidia Shield Android TV box to it, I figured I could avoid having to touch Fire OS beyond initial setup. Boy, was I wrong. My setup traditionally consists of the Shield controlling power and volume to both the TV and my JBL over HDMI via CEC, which allows me to use just the Shield remote to control my entire system. Unfortunately, the Insignia Fire TV likes to "fight" the Shield for control over the soundbar whenever ARC/CEC is enabled and causes the Shield's HDMI signal to cut out every 5-10 seconds. Disabling ARC on the TV fixes the signal dropping, but also prevents the soundbar and the shared power/volume controls from working. I currently have the Shield's remote setup to work over IR, and the soundbar linked to the Shield via Bluetooth, but the whole setup is extremely unreliable. That's also on top of Fire OS occasionally displaying messages on startup - even with "last input" set in the power options. This forces me to dig out the TV remote just to get to the screen I actually want to see. Just take me to my last input on startup! How hard is that? The TV itself is fine. The colors are quite vivid and the display is bright which really helps eliminate reflections in our brightly lit living room. I do feel like the default settings washes out the darks a little too much and HD content can look pretty blurry up close, especially around the edges, but it's nothing that can't be tweaked in the settings. If you're okay with Fire OS and don't plan on using any other set top boxes, then it's the TV is quite good for the price. But if you're trying to incorporate this thing into a somewhat elaborate, existing setup? It will try to fight you every step of the way. So stay away, and stick to something with less feature bloat, if you even still can.
