The Cablest Cable That Ever Cabled
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was in desperate need of a cable. It can be hard to find the perfect length, but this one was perfect at 6 feet in length. I have to switch devices between work and home so I needed something that could easily do that. This cable very easily connected my USB-C device to an HDMI 2.1 device. I especially liked that it was capable of 8k @ 60 ultra HD. With a family of four using tons of devices, I found it very helpful that this cable will work with Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, iPadOS, and Android. I was surprised that it works for laptops, smartphones, and tablets. I will primarily be using it between my windows computer and my mac but you never know when you need to grab a bunch of cables to head on a road trip and may need to share it with the kids and some of their devices. Luckily, I came across this cable by Insignia as an easy way to mirror or extend my display. It works as expected. The USB-C end fit the USB-C slot on one device, and the HDMI 2.1 end fit the HDMI 2.1 slot on the other device. Would recommend and buy again.

Did not work for me
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this to get 4k 120hz on M1 Pro 16” connected to an Alienware AW3225QF. Unfortunately it did not work and I would need to use USB-C to DisplayPort to get that smooth 120hz. Only think is this monitor on have on display port and that’s for my GPU in my gaming PC. It did not work for me but I may still use it with my gaming laptop.

Quality USB-C to HDMI 2.1 cable
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This seems to be a very high quality cable that works as it should! Design This seems to be a thicker and higher-quality braided cable than some others I've seen. The ends are as you would expect. I have one other similar cable and the HDMI end is larger where it plugs into the TV/display. This has a normal size end, just longer than a normal HDMI end. I don't know what they need to put in there but it seems they're all this way. I prefer the design of this where its the same size end as normal and just longer/deeper. Function It works exactly as it should, plug and play. I tested it on a 4K TV and a 1080p monitor. It worked great with both. I ran it at native 4k on the TV as well as with a scaled desktop. It worked great for desktop/computer use as well as video playback, audio and video. I tested it using two Chromebooks and two Windows 11 laptops. On all computers I used it with, the colors were bright and video played smoothly, up to 4k that I tested it at. Audio also came through without issue. Warning that you may experience Lag If you plan to use this cord for gaming, make sure to test it first. I had some issues with a noticeable lag. It's enough to make it aggravating when driving or playing other games. You can even notice it when using the mouse or other input devices in Windows. For presentations or playing back video it's not an issue, but for timing sensitive things, like gaming, it can be a problem. It seems to have something to do with how USB-C DisplayPort works. I've had the issue with more than one computer and another cable of this type from another company. I've also done searches and others have had the same problem sometimes. I haven't been able to figure out what causes it exactly but if you switch to using an HDMI out port instead of USB-C, the display response is fixed. I've had it work and not work on the same computer. I'm not sure if it could be a power management issue or not but I know it's not the cable. Just test before using this if you think it could be an issue. Again, this doesn't affect image quality or video playback. Just how quickly changes you request affect what you see on screen and it's a fraction of a second but it matters for games. I will not dock a star for this since it doesn't always happen and the problem seems to be the technology and not this cable. Summary Almost everything supports DisplayPort over USB-C. I've even used it on higher-end phones and it works. It's a great cable to have around, even just too keep in a laptop bag for unexpected presentations. The fact that this cable is rated for 8K is a bonus! Just make sure you test any gaming you want to use it for before you depend on it for that purpose.

Futuristic, High quality 8K USB C - HDMI 2.1 cable
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have bought so many Insignia products in the past. I was looking for a USB C to HDMI cable as my Dell XPS laptop does not have a HDMI port. One of the most important feature that grabbed my attention was the support for 8K resolution. So I wanted to give this cable a try. Pros: 1. Wide range of Connectivity - Its possible to connect Laptops, Tablets, Phones including iPhone 15 to extend or mirror the display. With lots of high end laptops having only the support to USB C, its hard to mirror or extend the display to Televisions. But with this Insignia Ultra HD USB-C to HDMI 2.1 cable it is possible to mirror or extend the display. 2. 8K Ultra HD - Though 8K is still at its beginning stage, Insignia has made a wise futuristic decision to support 8K Ultra HD resolution. Also this cable will be backward compatible to support the current 4K versions i am pretty sure this cable will come handy for years to come. This cable supports resolution - 8K @ 60Hz, 8K @ 30 Hz, 4K @ 60 Hz or 2K @ 60 Hz. I tried connecting my laptop to the television and tried playing a 4K video which my TV supports and the picture quality was amazing. 3. Braided cable - The cable is braided which ensures durablity and reliability. Unlike the regular cables the braided cables are designed tough. Happy to see Insignia making sure all the boxes are checked and they have ensured to provide a high quality product to the customers. 4. Connectors - The Connectors are Nickel plated to protect them against corrosion. This is another example of a high quality product. 5. Compatibility - Windows 11, Windows 10, macOS 10.12 to 11.4, ChromeOS 48.0.2564.82, iPadOS 12, iOS and Android 8 and iPhone 15 series 6. Price - Despite having so many features this cable is competitively priced. At 35$ this cable is worth every penny. Cons: The only downside of this product is the 6 ft connector. I feel the 6 feet is a little smaller in length. A 10 or 12 ft cable would have given a little bit more room to place the laptop on the couch or on the side table without having to place it near the TV.

Works well, well constructed, and good length
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There's not much to say: This is a well constructed USB-C to HDMI cable that works well and has a good length to it. The cable is covered is a braided cloth that feels nice and premium. The ends are weighty and solid. I have no concerns about these breaking off in my devices' ports. The length is good. 6' is more than enough length to reach from my laptop to my TV. I like that the cable supports 8K resolution and I'm able to take full advantage of my devices' capabilities. I like the fact that the cable is black. It blends in seemlessly with my all black AV setup. The cable is a little stiff, but better too stiff than too loose, and I'm sure that it will loosen up over time. The cable didn't charge my phone when I tried plugging it into the TV. In fact, my phone claimed to be charging an external device. Not sure if this issue is unique to my phone or universal. Still, I wouldn't count on using this to charge devices as you use them. If you're in the market for a well constructed cable that supports all of the newest display standards, then I think that this would be a great choice.

Just the thing you may not know you need
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. You’re probably like me in that you have a drawer to two filled with a variety of various computer cables. Some are current and usable, some you keep just in case you need to charge or connect some older equipment, and many are duplicates. Even so, now and then there’s something that you don’t have and realize they might be quite handy. The Insignia USB-C to HDMI is one of those. These days many newer laptop computers have dropped the HDMI port. With current USB-C and Thunderbolt ports common, having an HDMI port has become unnecessary. What you need instead is a way to connect your monitor or TV to that USB-C port, and this is the cable for that. That’s not a lot to say about cables. They work or they don’t. They are up to current standards, or they aren’t. They are well made and durable, or they aren’t. This cable meets all those standards. It handles up to 8K Ultra video. It conforms to the HDMI 2.1 specs. It has a braided 6’ cable, and it worked perfectly with my equipment. The 6’ foot length may be more than needed if you’re connecting to a computer monitor, but for using your laptop with a TV, the length is a definite plus. It’s the perfect thing for presentations, watching streaming services in a hotel room, or sharing photos and such on a large TV screen. Yes, you might be able to project to a TV, but I’ve found that dicey, hit or miss, and sometimes frustrating. This is a simple and solid solution. Carry one with your laptop.

Superb Quality!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Superb Quality! This high quality cable has been an incredibly versatile solution not only for connecting my computer to a monitor but also comes in handy to connect my iPad to my TV. The quality of this cable is top notch with very solid plugs on each end protected by rubber gaskets at the cable connection which prevents potential damage. The cable itself took me by surprise being a very high quality, braided cable. In combination with the sturdy plugs and connectors, I have no worries regarding durability. It was plug and play using it with my MacBook Pro and Samsung monitor as well as my iPad Pro to my Sony TV outputting a 4K/60 stream. It’s supposed to support resolutions all the way up to 8K which I couldn’t test but I appreciate that it should be future-proof whenever I get an 8K TV. It appears they also have a non-8K version for $7 less but just spring for this 8K version which makes it worry-proof for the future. My only complaint is that the HDMI plug is very long making it stick out quite a bit from the monitor or TV. For the money, this is a fantastic, versatile, high-quality cable!

Great Insignia product!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Insignia HDMI cable has been very reliable so far, something we have all come to expect from the Insignia brand products. The thickness of the cable is perfect, definitely more heavy duty than most cables out there, but not too thick that it's hard to work with. The braided outer shell is also great too and I prefer it over just a coated cable. The quality has been impressive and I have had zero quality issues using the Blue Ray player as well as our satellite TV box. This is my first USB-C to HDMI cable I've ever had after having to use an adapter to USB-C for years now and I'm so excited to finally have a cable that does it all, no adapters needed. This will be excellent for the projector movie nights outside this summer to connect to the projector from the tablet or phone. Since this cable is more heavy duty than most I won't have to worry about damaging it when moving things around. Overall a trustworthy cable that I can easily recommend as it is an item most households need on hand in this day and age.

Not What I Expected
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ll start by saying I do not own anything that runs 8K at this time. But I thought I would try this cable with other items I have. There should be at least some backward compatibility. It has not been the best experience so far. It may be that I need an adapter here and there to mitigate older tech with this cable’s requirements, to get the results I would like. First, I tried to connect my brand new Samsung S24 to a Lenovo laptop HDMI slot, running Windows 11 Pro. It did absolutely nothing at all. The Samsung didn’t even show as a connected device, yet it will show as a connected device with a regular USB cable or by WIFI and Bluetooth. The same (no)thing happened when I tried to connect the Samsung to the HDMI slots on a Mac laptop and a Mac desktop, both of which are running the current OS. I was actually wishing this cable would connect in that way somehow. Maybe there is a workaround. But I had no time to find it. I did try to open a video on the Lenovo from the S24 using VLC. But, as stated before, the device was not showing as connected at all. I then tried connecting the Lenovo to my Hisense TV, in the component HDMI slot. That worked! I wasn’t entirely enchanted with the control but it may be because of my own inexperience with doing that. I actually have no need or desire to do more of it so it was more to test the cable than have it do something I wanted it to do. The other thing I wanted it to do was connect my computers to a secondary monitor. I have an older monitor that is still really the queen of color. I use it for retouching work and there is no reason for me to throw it out. But I will have to get an adaptor to connect this cable to that older HDMI slot. I will hang on to this cable for future use. It may be out of the range of some of my current equipment and I might decide to get the adaptors needed to make it work. I like the braided cable; it reminds me of those quality cords on very old electronics, that never wore out or frayed. I’m a little concerned about the housing on the HDMI end, wondering if it is adequately insulated for that 8K kind of high performance.
