I got the 6 page shredder as the 12 page was not in stock. It chewed up the envelopes well - and has a special place for credit cards. I didn't have any CC's to shred so can't confirm if that works. I had some envelopes with papers to shred - it was very noisy and appeared to run well after the shredding occurred - but did the job.

It's supposed to be good for 6 sheets of paper. It does the job but you can hear the struggle with any paper over 4 sheets thick. It will shred cards too and has a slot to indicate where to insert it. Again, it seems to struggle with those too. It does have a good price and has thermal overload protection built in. If you have a huge stack of paper or files to shred make sure you have plenty of time in the day to do it as this shredder gets warm quick and then shuts down from there. Takes about an hour to cool enough to use again. I do like that it WILL NOT work unless it's attached to the waste bin preventing little fingers (or my own) from getting caught in the teeth from the bottom side. They are very sharp.

Easy to set up, and use. Versatility in shredding paper product with the security of disposing of credit cards and discs.

If you do not shred a lot of documents this is a great value for your money. When it get over heated it stops until it cool down. The shreds do gather by the teeth to much for me. However, for what I paid it was worth it. I actually purchased two. One for myself and one for my sister.

I have owned two brand name shredders before this. All have broken. So far this insignia model works better than them. I thought about getting a more expensive model, but kept an eye one this model as it goes on sale for a lower price every now and then. I missed a really low sale price but a few weeks later BB had a sale and I grabbed it in store. Like any non industrial/professional shredder do not feed multiple pages and it should last a long time. So far so good!

As far as the mechanics of the shredder it is great. I only have one complaint. There is a stick residue on the one corner of the shredder and it has run down into the waste bin. I have used several things to try and clean it buy no luck. And I have no idea what to do now as far as getting rid of it. Otherwise I love the shredder. The waste bin has a small window that allows you to know i f you are reaching the top. My old shredder was a pain cause I had to remove the shredder itself to see how full it was. This is much easier.

So far so good. This shredder gets the job done. It may be too early to give '4-stars' but I like what I've seen thus far. I'm not sure what all the comments are about w/respect to it being messy. Don't allow it to fill up the entire bin...hit reverse before emptying. I paid less than $25 for it. I'm pleased.
