When I got it home I read the label and it said it was for Windows 8. I called the number on the package and spoke to someone who works at tje actual company. He just laughed and said no way can this transfer Windows 10 from one computer to another.

Since my host mac didn't recognize the cable, I spoke to Apple and was told not to use this cable and in fact not to use any USB cable for mac-to-mac data transfer. Either use wifi or ethernet.
